I earned the MSW from the University of Kansas in 2014. I have since engaged in a range of direct human and mental health service work; including in-home therapy with youth and their families connected to state child protective services; crisis therapy and case management in a short-term crisis stabilization facility; outpatient community mental health therapy including work with individuals, families or couples, and groups.

I work with busy adults and high functioning professional women experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout, mood concerns, and menopause related mood changes. As a dual-certified nurse practitioner in both adult-gerontology and psychiatric mental health allows me to take a comprehensive, whole-person approach. My goal is to provide personalized care that feels thoughtful, supportive, and not rushed.

I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, relationship stress, trauma, substance use, and the pressure of trying to keep everything inside. Many of the people I work with are tired of bottling things up, reacting in ways they regret, or feeling like life has gotten off track. Some of my clients are trying to rebuild after rock bottom, others are learning that sobriety is just the start and want help creating healthier patterns, stronger relationships, and more stability in daily life. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working with youth, adults, families, and military communities across school, clinical, and community settings. I've sat with people in some of the most demanding circumstances imaginable — from inpatient mental health facilities to active military bases — and I've learned that what helps most isn't a script. It's connection, clarity, and a practical plan that actually fits your life.

I'm a Licensed Master and Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping people through some of life's hardest moments. I work with individuals, families, and groups, and I have specialized training in trauma, eating disorders, and sexual health concerns. I'm also passionate about the bigger picture — how the world around us affects our mental health — and I bring that perspective into my work. I'm currently accepting new clients.

My name is Marcelo Benalcazar. I am a father of four and a first generation son of two immigrants. I grew up in Topeka as a biracial/bicultural child and know all too well the feelings that come from being "different" than everyone else. In my free time I play video games (I have multiple systems and enjoy multiple genres), watch movies, read graphic novels, and LOVE all forms of music. Educationally I received my Associates Degree in Addictions Counseling from Kansas City Kansas Community College and my Bachelors and Masters from the University of Kansas where I graduated Cum Laude as an Integrated Behavioral Health Scholar. I am currently a dual licensed therapist with an LSCSW and an LMAC.

As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, my goal is to create hope and help people to realize that together we can overcome whatever struggles they are facing. I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I have been a nurse for 27 years, and I strive to show compassion and understanding to everyone who needs help.
