I am board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in adolescent and young adult psychiatry. I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing degree from Nova Southeastern University with specialized training in psychiatry. For the last five year I have held various leadership positions for a local residential treatment center for teens that specializes in complex trauma treatment.

Supporting a service member’s transition to civilian life and supporting a new mom through postpartum may seem like different roles, but both call for someone who will not flinch at the hard stuff. I work with veterans, parents adjusting to a new baby, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, substance use, and other concerns that do not fit neatly into one box. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and other concerns that can make it difficult to feel grounded or move forward. I hold a master’s degree from Colorado Christian University and have received training in both play therapy and EMDR. I have also worked with clients experiencing dual diagnoses within the field of substance use disorders, which has deepened my understanding of the connection between emotional pain, coping, and healing.

I’m Dr. Madeline Michel, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly 20 years of nursing experience and more than 13 years of experience as a nurse practitioner. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University and hold three board certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for individuals across the lifespan in a variety of clinical settings. My professional background includes psychiatry, substance use disorders, cognitive disorders, and neurology. I previously practiced as a neurology hospitalist nurse practitioner at several hospitals throughout South Florida and as a cognition-specialized Gerontological Nurse Practitioner at the Louis and Anne Green Memory Wellness Center, a state-designated Memory Disorder Clinic. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the relationship between mental, cognitive, neurological, and physical health.

My practice style is open minded, solution focused, and direct to the point. I love to help any individual from a humanistic point of view. I am extremely empathetic, love to be honest and being honest with my patients is key in my every day practice.
