I take a Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) approach, which allows for long-term benefits in fewer sessions than other counseling models. I was intensively trained in EMDR and believe the focus of counseling is to not only work on managing your current struggles, but to develop the tools needed to independently manage future obstacles as well. I use a combination of reflective listening, as well as an instructional approach, to help guide you towards becoming the best version of you!

I have a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a License in Marital and Family Therapy. I treat individuals, couples and families. I specialize in healing people from pain and suffering. I am a graduate of Pepperdine University, I am proficient in treating minor to severe mental health issues and disorders. I have extensive experience working with dual diagnosis and addiction. I am competent in healing people with minor to severe mental health issues including trauma and personality disorders. I specialize in treating individuals, couples and families from a family system perspective, as well using multiple evidence based modalities in a integrative approach.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, followed by a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling; both from the University of Central Florida. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida and have been in practice for 15 years. I work with both adolescents and adults and tailor my approach to meet each client’s individual needs.

I am the founder of Nova Counseling Services, I have Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Barry University. As a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, Pilar’s career began in child welfare and family reunification with the Department of Children and Families. With a focus on dual diagnosis and substance use treatment, she is a Certified Addiction Professional and a qualified supervisor for social work interns.
