Hi, I'm Sara Buchanan, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida, and the owner of SSB Counseling Services, based in Jacksonville, Florida. I earned my Master of Science degree in 2023 at the University of North Florida in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I received Dialectical Behavioral Therapy informed training during her practicum and internship. I also specialize in treating eating disorders and body image concerns.

Seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.

As a bilingual English-Spanish provider, I am passionate about improving access to high-quality mental health care for diverse communities and creating a safe space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves in the language they know best. My goal is to build trust, empower healing, and support you every step of your journey toward better mental health.

One of the most empowering factors in my life has been spending 32 years as an Air Force Military Spouse. This empowered me to grow and learn through lived experiences in diverse groups. I’ve been a clinical social worker and prior substance abuse counselor for 30+ years working in a public agency, private practice, and with the US Army at Fort Carson, Colorado and at SHAPE, Belgium. I work across all ages to include both adults and children. In addition to my MSW in clinical social worker, I have an advanced graduate degree in Infant and Early Childhood Special Education Leadership and a doctorate degree in Curriculum and Diversity Studies.
