Reaching out for help takes courage, and I'm glad you're here. Whether you're working through substance use, the aftermath of trauma, anger that feels hard to manage, or stress that's spilling into your family life, you don't have to figure it out alone. I've spent my career helping adults find their footing again, and I'd be honored to help you do the same.
Along the way I've trained in addiction recovery, trauma and abuse therapy, EMDR (Levels I and II), and Motivational Interviewing. I've also helped build intensive residential and outpatient treatment programs, and I train and supervise other clinicians in Colorado. What that means for you is experience you can lean on, with a person who treats you as a person, not a diagnosis.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and 18 years of experience in behavioral health and addiction services. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals facing substance use challenges, mental health concerns, life transitions, and personal struggles that can leave people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who they want to be.
I specialize in working with adults experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, men's issues, LGBTQ+ concerns, relationship challenges, trauma, and major life transitions. I am passionate about helping clients discover their strengths, develop healthier coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.
I believe that healing happens when people feel accepted, understood, and supported. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment where clients can explore their experiences without judgment. No matter how difficult things may feel today, I believe there is hope for growth, healing, and recovery.
Do you struggle with persistent anxiety or depression? Do you have an adolescent with emotional or behavioral problems? Are you having issues with addiction? I've been assisting people in the Denver area for the past thirty years. I have worked in inpatient psychiatry and drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and I currently teach psychology and related subjects at the University of Denver. Although my clinical specialties are working with adolescents and addictive issues, I also work with individuals, couples, and families dealing with mood disorders, anger management, men's issues, and spiritual issues.
"I believe that clinical credentials are only part of the process of selecting a therapist. To that end, I offer a free fifteen-minute consultation to determine if I'm the right therapist for you."
I have experience with adults and teenagers in systems of care including nonprofits, hospitals, and outpatient facilities. I specialize in trauma and addictions but enjoy working with variety in all its forms. I am passionate about adventure and the outdoors and want to help my clients improve their relationship to the land, connection to self, and deepening the quality of our interactions with others.
I believe therapy should be a safe space where you feel truly seen and supported. Using a developmental framework, I help you explore your personal growth within your unique cultural background. Together, we will connect clinical research with your story, helping you navigate life's challenges and move forward with confidence.
With an extensive background spanning the full continuum of care—from outpatient services to long-term inpatient mental health—I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals across a vast spectrum of life experiences. My professional journey has been shaped by the guidance of exceptional mentors and supervisors who have instilled in me a commitment to continuous growth as a provider.
I have had the privilege of serving a wide range of populations, including:
- Adolescent mothers and youth in the foster care system
- Individuals within youth corrections
- Military veterans and those navigating the complexities of post-service life
- Survivors of domestic violence in recovery
- The geriatric population and adults navigating significant life transitions
I believe that true healing and growth begin with authenticity. Long before it became a trending term, I sought to show up as my authentic self in every room—whether presenting to a leadership team in a government agency or sitting one-on-one with a client late into the evening.
My style is rooted in transparency. I recognize my own strengths and deficits, a practice that keeps me grounded and humble while giving me the confidence to face life’s most daunting challenges alongside my clients. I don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach; instead, I meet my clients exactly where they are, viewing them as the true experts of their own lives.
I am a psychiatrist trained in adult psychiatry, though I do have some experience working in adolescent and geriatric psychiatry as well. I try to integrate western medicine approaches to care with more holistic approaches, which often includes providing psychotherapy, medications, and lifestyle modification. I have specific interest in different psychotherapy modalities, and often incorporate some aspects of psychotherapy in my visits with clients even if this is not the primary focus. In my work, I like to focus on your strengths, goals, and values as the main components of our treatment plan. I try to bring a curious, open-minded, and compassionate energy to my work.
