I am a veteran with a tech background, and I have over 12 years of experience as a counselor. I went back to school in my 40's, so I bring a lifetime of practical experience to my work. I focus on getting to the heart of the matter with clients, while looking for perspective into what may have caused the problem, and tools for the future. We will meet in person most or all of the time - I find this to be more effective.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and thank you for taking the first step in “taking back your life” from a mental illness. I feel that each person possess’ the needed internal mechanisms for success in their life. My goal is to assist you through integrative, lifestyle, and medication management combined with the internal strengths you possess to assist in guiding you through this journey we call life. I have been in the health care field for 12+ years.

Just a few years ago, I was caught up in a cycle of self-doubt, shame, and failure. I was early on in adulthood, and already I felt completely worn out; I was convinced my life would end in ruins. Eventually, I was able to seek counseling, and this became a significant factor in helping me find a new sense of hope and freedom. I became a counselor out of a desire to share this gift with others. I aim to create a safe space where my clients can discover new hope on their journey. I support people navigating big life transitions — especially athletes moving beyond their sport — as well as individuals dealing with addiction, substance use, or feeling disconnected from who they are or where they’re headed. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in practical tools. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a bit of humor to our work, helping you understand your patterns, make sense of your emotions, and move through change with more clarity and confidence. My goal is to create a space where you don’t have to perform — you can show up exactly as you are, and we’ll navigate the next steps together.

Hi, I’m Denae! As a therapist who lives in the neurodivergent world myself, I believe therapy should be both real and lighthearted. With over a decade in behavioral health and dual licenses in counseling and addictions, I bring both clinical training and personal experience. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. My goal is to create a safe space where you can show up authentically, free from judgment, with a touch of humor along the way.

I am a licensed therapist based in Golden, CO. I offer in person visits at my office in downtown Golden, which is a convenient distance from Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Edgewater, Westminster, and Denver’s Westside. I also offer remote sessions online. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor.

Prior to earning my BS in Psychology followed by a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver in 2010, I graduated from CU Boulder in 1994 where I received my BA in English Literature. I look forward to assisting you with your counseling needs.
