Hello! My name is Melanie Lapeyrolerie, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, California. I offer in-person therapy in West Los Angeles and telehealth services to clients throughout the state. I work with a diverse range of individuals, from young adults to seniors aged 18 to 71. My specialties include treating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and alcohol and substance use disorders. To support my clients in enhancing their daily lives and overall well-being, I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness, among others.
I have a Master's Degree in Counseling, Marriage, and Family from Phillips Graduate Institute.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from UCSB.
I typically work with clients who have a history of trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, and managing anxiety, The clients I work with are very motivated to make changes in their lives.
I worked with high-risk, traumatized, and abused youth for many years. I find practicing therapy very rewarding. Assisting my clients to work through life challenges and progress in their life journey is a privilege.
At my core, I’m a mindful, committed, and deeply caring person. Being a therapist is simply one expression of that—I feel called to help people, and this is the work through which I do it.
I have been working in private practice for a few years and before that I worked in non-profits with a variety of individuals and groups. I am the parent of two adult sons and have three grandchildren that I thoroughly enjoy spending time with. I have an educational background in the study of philosophy, spirituality and counseling psychology. I have experience with helping people with histories of trauma, severe mental illness, as well as, symptoms of anxiety and depression. I also have experience and some expertise with clients struggling with substance use.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s degree and over 20 years of experience working with a wide range of clients and concerns. Over the years, I’ve worked in clinics, run my own private practice, and provided therapy to enlisted Navy personnel and their spouses. For the past five years, I’ve primarily provided therapy through telehealth.
Therapy can sometimes feel unfamiliar or intimidating, especially when you’re meeting a new therapist, but I don’t believe it has to feel that way. I try to create a relaxed, comfortable environment where you can feel like yourself. I bring genuine curiosity, warmth, humor when appropriate, and most importantly, authenticity to my work. I want therapy to feel like a real conversation and a genuine human connection—not like you’re being analyzed or judged.
I hold a Masters in Marriage, Family, Child Counseling from San Francisco State University. I specialize in self-esteem and working with attachment-related trauma, which is sometimes referred to as complex trauma or inner child wounding. Complex trauma can often look like anxiety, depression, unhealthy patterns, or a cycle of unfulfilling relationships.
