I work with individual adults who need more help with overcoming mental health challenges. I'm a licensed therapist and have experience treating depression, anxiety, anger, interpersonal issues, OCD, grief/loss and panic disorder. My focus is to help individuals and families build resiliency to heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan to connect you with simple strategies that would assist you with achieving your full potential.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I am honest, direct, and passionate about helping people connect to their values and make positive change in their lives.
I believe that our environment, our physical health, and our mental health are intimately linked. I take a whole person approach to counseling where we will address multiple aspects of your health and functioning in order to improve your mental health. An important part of my approach is helping you to broaden your awareness and build insight into how your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions interact and may be keeping you stuck in unhealthy cycles. I also work with my clients on values identification to help guide us in developing practical steps to get you unstuck and moving forward in life in a meaningful way. My main treatment modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy.
I have experience working in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient clinical settings and I have a special interest in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, mood disorders, sport/performance and general life difficulties (relationship conflict, job/career changes, managing stress).
Thank you for taking this step of therapy. I am here to support you in your journey to healing. I'd like to support you with managing individual and Family concerns. We will utilize healthier coping skills, problem-solving techniques, decision-making tools and individualized effective techniques that serves your unique goals for therapy. I look forward to seeing you soon.
If you've been carrying something heavy β trauma, grief, a past you haven't fully processed β I want you to know: healing is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.
I'm Layla DeLoach Kirkley, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with nearly 20 years of experience. I spent much of my career working directly with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in nonprofit settings β and that work shaped everything about how I show up for my clients today.
I hold a BS in Psychology and an MS in Counseling and Human Development, and I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness techniques β always tailored to what you need, not a one-size-fits-all plan.
I work with teens (ages 13+), adults, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-esteem, disordered eating, grief, life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ identity. I see clients in-person in Montgomery and Selma, AL, and via telehealth in Alabama and Florida.
