Hi, I’m Michele! Clients often tell me they feel truly seen and heard in our work. They appreciate how I help them untangle complex issues, develop insight, gently challenge them, and take meaningful, manageable steps toward their goals. Whether we’re working through anxiety, identity questions, systemic challenges, or emotional healing, I stay committed to being a steady guide who brings both heart and skill to the process. My practice philosophy is rooted in the strengths perspective, where we highlight how you have survived and build on your unique resilience to help you thrive. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) providing therapy services in Texas. I have been in private practice for over 10 years and I can see you in person or virtually.
I'm a wife, mom, stepmom, and grandma who loves spending time with family, being outdoors, and making meaningful memories. I believe that even in life's hardest seasons, peace is possible. I strive to bring that same warmth, hope, and authenticity into every session.
Life is full of challenges both big and small. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space for individuals and families to feel empowered to take on whatever life brings them, whether it seems too overwhelming to handle or too minor to matter. Anything that matters to you is worth talking about.
I use a variety of therapeutic models to help in my work, with connection being at the core. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, faith crisis/transition, couple/family conflict, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I enjoy working with teens and young adults, but am open to seeing clients of all ages and backgrounds.
I have been a therapist for 10+ years. I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Syracuse University. I have specialized training for trauma, anxiety, and attachment, depression, family systems, addiction, and perinatal and postpartum. My range of experience includes residential treatment programs for troubled teens, intensive outpatient, and community mental health. I love working with all ages.
Welcome to therapy, let's get to work! I believe everyone deserves good therapy and I'm here to provide the guidance and structure needed to make lasting change in your life. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2020 and have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I have specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (a sister approach to EMDR) for trauma treatment. If you visit me in office, you will get to meet my therapy dog, Java, who is always ready for a chat and snuggle.
I believe therapy should be a dynamic, collaborative process that yields real-world results. My practice is built on a foundation of academic excellence and specialized training, including a BA in Psychology from University of Southern California and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Utah.
My Therapeutic Toolkit: Evidence-Based & Proactive
I don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I blend several powerful, evidence-based modalities to help you achieve your goals quickly and effectively:
- ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy): A specialized approach for trauma and PTSD that uses eye movements to "reprogram" distressing memories and sensations, often providing relief in just a few sessions.
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): We will work together to identify and shift the thought patterns that keep you stuck in cycles of anxiety or depression.
- DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): I provide practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and improving relationships—giving you a "manual" for navigating life's hardest moments.
I have been in the mental health field since 2017 and am passionate about meeting my clients where they are at, jumping in the trenches with them, and helping them navigate life’s challenges. I strive to help clients better understand their thoughts, beliefs, and patterns while providing the support and guidance they need to create meaningful change. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan and with a diverse range of population, with a passion in working with young adults.
My name is Anne Schwab. I know first hand that starting a therapeutic journey can be scary. Change is hard, and often daunting, but staying stuck in your pain is worse. I'm here to help. I have spent the majority of my career as a therapist working with adolescents in residential treatment and their families. Now, I'm broadening my scope of practice to the community at large.
“The green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks in a storm.”― Confucius. Have you felt that anxiety, depression, or trauma are stopping you from living the life you want and deserve? I utilize evidence-based practices with clients like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches to develop more adaptive responses and cultivate lasting coping to help clients bend with the winds of life. I'm now accepting clients for both in-person and telehealth therapy, and accept many insurances.
