My goal is to create a nurturing, space where clients can grow and overcome challenges. I view therapy as a collaborative journey. Searching for the right therapist can feel overwhelming, and taking the first step isn’t always easy. I’m here to make that process feel a little less stressful. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together in a supportive, judgment-free space where you can feel heard and understood.
You've been called too much, or not enough. Maybe both, depending on the room. I work with individuals and couples in affirming, culturally responsive therapy. POC, LGBTQIA+ folks, people in ENM and nontraditional relationships, and anyone who's spent a lifetime translating themselves to be understood. Clients come in carrying grief, people-pleasing patterns, identity questions, the weight of being misread, or a relationship that's drifted, gone quiet, or is trying to find a new shape that actually fits. I'll challenge you and stay warm doing it. I don't ask you to shrink or perform to be met. This is a space to be known in full.
Hi my name is Cordell Spears, and I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in helping people with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, culture/identity specific issues and issues related to neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism). I am trained as a generalist thus I am equipped to treat most issues that clients bring in. I also write gender reassignment surgery letters. In addition, I am Houstonian through and through even though I lived in the Chicagoland area for over a decade. I am an avid dog lover and gamer who also likes to be active and exercise.
I believe in the principles that I share and use them in my own life to bring joy and rejuvenation. I have a deep commitment to mindfulness, embracing each moment with presence and gratitude. I want to help you find your own place of peace and a direction that leads you to wake up each day with a sense of hope and belonging. I also have a special certification to work with first responders, as they have very unique and specific individual and family dynamics.
I believe that even during life's most difficult seasons, growth and healing are possible.
I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationship concerns, career changes, burnout, and other significant life transitions. Whether you're navigating divorce, adjusting to a new chapter, or feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, my goal is to provide a supportive environment where you can process your experiences and develop practical strategies for moving forward.
My therapeutic approach is personalized and evidence-based. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care to meet clients where they are and help them achieve meaningful progress.
With experience as both a Licensed Professional Counselor and educational leader, I understand the unique pressures many adults face while balancing work, family, relationships, and personal growth.
My hope is that every client leaves therapy feeling more empowered, resilient, and confident in their ability to navigate whatever comes next.
"Together, we'll create a path forward—one step at a time."

You might feel stuck between who you thought you’d be by now and where life has actually taken you. Maybe you’re navigating a new diagnosis, old patterns that won’t let go, or relationships that feel like the same argument on repeat.
