My path to psychiatry began with a simple observation: mental health needs are everywhere, yet not enough people have access to care. After five years as a family nurse practitioner, I made the move to psychiatric care because I wanted to be part of the solution. I bring a holistic perspective to every session, drawing on years of primary care experience to understand how physical and mental health are connected in each person. I am board certified and see patients virtually in Ohio. If you are navigating anxiety, depression, or PTSD, I am here to work alongside you toward real, lasting change.
I'm a seasoned counselor with a broad range of experience. I am most passionate about working with couples.I thrive on facilitating healing & growth in relationships.I also specialize in spiritually integrated psychotherapy, anxiety, depression, and addictions. I hold advanced degrees in Theology and Counseling, and I have completed postgraduate clinical training in Couples Counseling, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Spiritual Direction, Pastoral Counseling, and Addictions.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I provide compassionate, supportive mental health care centered on medication management. To enhance your treatment, I integrate brief, supplemental supportive interventions and targeted coping strategies when clinically indicated. I am currently accepting new patients (ages 18–64) and have immediate openings with flexible scheduling for both online and in-person appointments.
Welcome to Family Forward Therapy, a Texas-based group practice offering virtual therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our team includes therapists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and areas of focus so we can help connect you with someone who fits your individual needs.
I’m Roberto Martinez, therapist and founder of Family Forward Therapy. I’ve built a team of clinicians with different backgrounds, specialties, and experiences so that clients have more options when looking for the right therapist.
We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship and family challenges, parenting stress, grief, life transitions, and more. Our clinicians also bring experience working with populations and concerns that can sometimes be harder to find specialized support for.
When you schedule through this profile, you are connecting with Family Forward Therapy rather than only one individual therapist. After you book, we may contact you briefly to learn what type of therapy you’re seeking and what you would like help with. Based on your needs, preferences, availability, and insurance, your appointment may be reassigned to another therapist within our practice who may be a better fit.
Our goal is simple: help you get connected with the right therapist without having to spend weeks searching.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I work with teens (12+) and adults who want down-to-earth, practical help for worry, low mood, poor sleep, and low energy. People come to me when anxiety, panic, persistent sadness, or sleep problems that are starting to get in the way of daily life, work, school, or relationships — or when past treatments didn’t help enough or caused unwanted side effects. I treat anxiety (including panic and OCD), depression, bipolar mood instability, psychosis when medication management is needed, insomnia, and struggles with motivation and energy.
Building a psychiatric practice from the ground up means I get to do this the right way from the start. I chose psychiatric mental health care because I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it can be to find timely, thoughtful mental health treatment—especially in communities where there simply aren’t enough providers.
My background in healthcare has given me experience working with people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring that experience into every patient encounter, while keeping my focus where it belongs: on you, your goals, and what will actually help you move forward.
I believe psychiatric care should be collaborative, straightforward, and individualized. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood changes, or other mental health concerns, I want you to feel heard rather than judged. We’ll take the time to understand what you're experiencing, discuss your options honestly, and develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you.
My goal is to make getting quality psychiatric care easier—not another source of frustration. I’m committed to providing accessible, evidence-based treatment in a setting where patients can build a long-term relationship with their provider. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and I believe you should understand the why behind your treatment.
I strive to build the kind of practice I believe patients deserve: accessible, personal, and focused on treating the whole person—not just a diagnosis.
Back-to-school ADHD & adolescent anxiety visits — evening appointments available! If you've cycled through medications that didn't work, been put on prescriptions that never quite fit, or felt handed a pill for every symptom without anyone explaining why — you're not a difficult case. You're a patient who hasn't been fully heard yet.
I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with additional certification in telebehavioral health, and I do things differently: I take the time to get the complete picture before making any decision. My career — from flight nursing to inpatient behavioral health — taught me to stay calm and thorough with the most complex cases. I treat mental and physical health together,
grounded in evidence-based care, and I make sure you understand your options — medications, nutrition, sleep, movement — so you can make real choices about your own care.
