I graduated with my doctorate from Xavier University and completed my clinical psychology doctoral internship at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center. I obtained my Bachelor's degree from Fisk University and my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. My primary work environments have included private practice/outpatient, school based, as well as residential/crisis inpatient treatment, to provide treatment for mental health [depression, trauma anxiety, anger management, grief and substance use disorders.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and substance use - all the messy, complicated parts. Over 17 years, I’ve done everything from case management to clinical supervision at a community mental health agency and crisis intervention at a managed care company. As a biracial person (Filipina and Polish), I bring personal understanding to those navigating cultural identity, family expectations, and the feeling of not quite fitting in anywhere.

Welcome! I’m Dr. Clarence Chapman, a licensed professional clinical counselor, clinical supervisor, and Christian therapist. My approach to counseling is compassionate, practical, and direct. I believe therapy should be a place where you can speak honestly without judgment while also developing tools that help create meaningful change outside of the therapy room.

I work primarily with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, addiction and substance use concerns, pornography or problematic sexual behaviors, men’s issues, anger, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. I am also EMDR trained and enjoy helping clients understand how past experiences can continue to influence their emotions, relationships, and behaviors today.

As a Christian therapist, I welcome clients who want faith, Scripture, and biblical principles incorporated into counseling. Faith integration is always based on the individual client’s preferences and goals.

I am also a U.S. military veteran and value the opportunity to work with veterans and others who may appreciate a therapist who understands aspects of military culture and service.

My current practice is focused on individual counseling, and I am not currently accepting clients for couples counseling.
