Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker with experience working in schools with children and adolescents, hospital settings with adults, and private practice with clients from diverse backgrounds. I have supported students in building emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills, adults coping with acute mental health challenges, and private clients navigating a wide range of life experiences. My work is informed by a trauma-informed perspective, and I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for every client.
Clients often describe me as empathetic, grounded, and collaborative. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect, and understanding, and I tailor my approach to meet each person’s unique needs and goals.
I've long been drawn to the dance between the psychological and the spiritual. As I journeyed my own early path of discovery, it lead me to studies in psychology, classic literature, and theology in undergraduate, and then later Buddhist psychotherapy and meditation, and depth psychology in graduate school. I received my graduate degree from Naropa University's Transpersonal Counseling Psychology program in 2003, and am licensed in WI (LPC) and MN (LPCC). I am a practitioner of shamatha-vipassyana meditation, and have a well-established background of working for various therapy group practices in MN and WI.
Education
2003, Naropa University, MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology.
1998, College of St. Benedict, BA in Psychology; 1997 study abroad in Beibei, China.
As a lifelong student of East and West methodologies, I blend Person-Centered, CBT, Gestalt, depth psychology, somatic, and Buddhist psychology views. I also take a trauma-informed, IFS-informed, EFT-informed approach. I spent many years exploring Christian mysticism and theology before finding my own path and practice in Tibetan Buddhism for the past 20+ years, and I welcome heartfelt conversations about any psycho-spiritual path.
If you're navigating work-life balance, stressors, and likely facing the ongoing challenges compounded by the pandemic, I am here to come alongside you as you seek healing, health and wellness. I have a special interest in serving adult-aged clients in the BIPOC community. Whether you are in college, graduate school, or a working professional, I'm taking new clients in Plymouth/Golden Valley area (NOT in Uptown) as well as telehealth at this time. Maybe you are finding yourself at a crossroads, facing a major (or minor) life change. Therapy with me will be holistic, person-centered, integrating your story as you slow down, seek clarity and pursue a conscious, welcomed change.
You're taking the first difficult step towards change by vetting therapists, and I'd be honored to join you on each of the subsequent steps. I've been a clinical therapist for 12 years and employ a variety of tools to help you meet your goals. I'm especially drawn to and skilled in working with folk in transition, whether this relates to your age (preteen, teen or adult), relationship status, identity exploration or shifting life circumstances.

Find the right therapist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Rochester
Searching for therapists in Rochester starts with knowing what kind of support you want. A Rochester therapist may help with concerns like anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, or stress. As you compare options, look for a therapist whose listed specialties and approach match what you want to discuss. Reading bios can help you understand whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care.
In a smaller city like Rochester, local office options may be more limited than in larger metro areas. Virtual therapy can add more choice while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in Minnesota. As you narrow your search, consider appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new clients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Profiles can also show how a therapist structures sessions, communicates, and approaches care.
Therapy in Rochester, MN can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and see your estimated cost before you book. Headway helps you compare therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, review their profiles, and book directly when you’re ready.
