I began my career working with children and quickly expanded my expertise to include adults and couples. Throughout my 26 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have seen the incredible power of the human spirit to overcome trauma and unexpected life struggles. Watching my clients transition from "surviving" to "thriving" remains the most inspiring part of my work.
My career began in 1997 as an AmeriCorps member working in harm reduction during the peak of new HIV infections. Since then, I've held many roles as a proud social worker. I have been a therapist for 18 years, with extensive training & experience in harm reduction therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I have lived experience with mental health challenges and treatment
I have worked and lived in:
- Charlotte, NC

Hello, my name is Thamreen, and welcome to Tufts and Tulips Therapy! I’m so glad you’ve taken this important first step toward exploring therapy. I understand how overwhelming it can feel, but I want you to know that you don’t have to navigate it alone. With over ten years of experience as a clinical social worker, I’ve had the honor of supporting people who, like you, were unsure or nervous about starting therapy—and together, from tufts to tulips, we’ve created real and lasting change.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in hospitals, EAPs, crisis lines, and community mental health settings, offering care to veterans, people experiencing homelessness, refugees, company executives, youth, the elderly, and everyone in between. Whether you’re an individual, couple, or family, I welcome clients of all genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and backgrounds, ages 17 and up. Kindness, empathy, and respect are the foundation of my work, and I strive to make sure you feel seen, heard, and valued from day one.
You’ve been through enough. Now it’s time to rediscover the person you were always meant to be. I believe true healing begins when we care for the whole person—not just the problem. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. I work with individuals who are ready to heal, grow, and create meaningful change. Clients may seek counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, or feeling stuck and uncertain about their next steps. You don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I’m here to meet you where you are, listen with intention, and support you as you work toward healing, growth, and wellness. When you’re ready, I invite you to take that first step toward healing and positive change.
I have a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My schooling has taken me throughout the MidWest including Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. I have diverse clinical experience with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, substance abuse and geriatrics. I believe mental health is vital to a happy, healthy lifestyle. I am currently focusing on one-on-one therapy for individuals struggling with multiple issues.
For over 35 years, I have walked alongside individuals seeking a deeper meaning, healing, and wholeness. My work is rooted in a Bio-Psycho-Spiritual approach - honoring the inseparable connection between body, mind, and soul - drawing from Meditation, Mindful-Being, and interfaith traditions to meet each person exactly where they are. I have been told I have a particular gift in working with those in their wisdom years, guiding them through the profound process of life review - a reflective journey of integrating past experiences, finding meaning, and embracing a renewed sense of self. Whether you are navigating a spiritual awakening, a life transition, grief, or simply have a quiet longing for something more, I offer a space that is safe, unhurried, and deeply honoring of your unique path.
