I've been in practice for thirty years, working with clients of all ages. I have Master's Degrees in Counseling and Religious Studies, with concentrations in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, EMDR and Expressive Therapies.
I have been in the field for over fifteen years. I have worked in a variety of settings, with children, adolescents and adults. My current focus for the past several years has been on supporting adults, particularly those seeking support around life transitions, relationships and anxiety. I also have years of experience and enjoy working with folks in the LGBTQIA+ community. I regularly partake in continuing education, which I find exciting and helpful in keeping up with current themes in mental health care, such as exploring social justice issues through a mental health lens.
Hi! My name is Jill Thomas. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Boise State University in 2013 and received an advanced degree in Business from Vanderbilt University in 2020. I am trained in perinatal mental health, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, DBT, CBT and utilize somatic therapies whenever I can. I am a yoga teacher and find movement to be a valuable tool.
I work with adults who may appear to be managing life well but privately feel anxious, lonely, stuck in their relationships, or caught in patterns they understand intellectually but can't seem to change.
You may be overthinking a relationship, adjusting to a loss or major life change, struggling with anxiety or OCD, or simply realizing that the way you've been coping isn't working anymore. Therapy can be a place to understand what's underneath those patterns—and begin changing them.
Originally trained as a psychologist in Australia, I bring nearly two decades of clinical experience to my work in the US. My style is warm, straightforward and engaged—I won't simply sit back and nod.
My ideal client is someone wrestling with feelings of shame, guilt, and a lack of authenticity. They may be navigating societal pressures or personal challenges that keep them from embracing who they are fully. Often, they feel held back by the weight of living up to others' expectations and yearn for a life where they can be unapologetically themselves. They want a space to explore and validate their lived experiences, uncover their genuine self, and build a life that feels both radically authentic and fulfilling.
I'm a licensed psychotherapist who works with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or neurodivergent adults who have spent a lot of time trying to understand themselves, but still feel stuck in painful patterns. You may already know where your struggles come from, yet find that insight alone hasn't brought the relief, self-compassion, or change you're hoping for. I've been a therapist for 5 years, and my training in internal family systems (IFS) therapy and somatic approaches has helped clients move beyond insight, experience relief in the body, and feel more whole and connected to themselves, others, and the world around them.
I have over twenty years of experience with anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship issues and parenting, among other issues. In particular, I have worked with loneliness, burnout, social anxiety, and self esteem.
My education is from Binghamton University, Boston College, and Northeastern University. Fully licensed in NY and MA, I have additional specialized training in trauma informed care, DBT, grief, and anxiety.
My primary areas of experience are trauma and addiction, and I have a deep passion for helping people heal from experiences that have impacted the way they see themselves, their relationships, and their lives. I understand that coping strategies often develop for a reason. Rather than judging those behaviors, I want to help you understand what they have been trying to do for you, while working together to develop healthier ways of moving forward.
I don’t see you as a diagnosis, a collection of symptoms, or a list of things that need to be fixed. I see you as a whole person with a story. Your experiences matter, your feelings matter, and you deserve a space where they can be heard.
Therapy can be uncomfortable at times. Healing often asks us to look at things we’d rather avoid. But you shouldn’t have to do that while feeling judged, criticized, or alone. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship where you can laugh, cry, be angry, feel confused, ask difficult questions, or simply sit with whatever you’re experiencing—and know that you are still accepted.
You don’t have to be “better” before you come to therapy. You don’t have to hide the messy parts. You can come exactly as you are.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will genuinely listen, meet you with compassion, and walk alongside you through the process of healing, I would be honored to take that journey with you.
I think this version captures something especially important about your philosophy: the relationship itself is part of the treatment. It also avoids making you sound like you’re promising to “fix” someone, while still conveying genuine passion for helping people heal.

Headway makes it easier to connect with affirming therapists who understand your identity — from finding the right therapist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an LGBTQIA+ Therapist in Lexington
Finding LGBTQIA+ therapists in Lexington starts with choosing someone whose care is explicitly identity-affirming. Look for therapists who mention affirmative therapy, gender-diverse experience, WPATH training, or experience supporting LGBTQIA+ people. The right fit may also depend on what you want support with, such as anxiety, depression, identity-related stress, relationships, or life transitions. A therapist’s listed specialties, approach, and population experience can help you understand whether their training matches your needs.
Lexington is a smaller market, so the number of local LGBTQIA+-affirming therapists may be more limited than in nearby larger cities. Virtual appointments can expand your options while still letting you choose someone licensed in Massachusetts. As you compare therapists, consider appointment availability, whether they offer free phone consultations, and whether their bio directly names LGBTQIA+ populations. Bios can also show how a therapist communicates, what approaches they use, and what you can expect in sessions.
Therapy in Lexington can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to lower your session costs. Headway helps you search for therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed profiles, and see estimated out-of-pocket costs before you book. You can compare affirming therapists, confirm insurance fit, and book directly when you’re ready.
