Hello! I’m Eunice Virgen, a licensed clinical social worker based in Los Angeles, CA. For the last nine years, I’ve worked in public mental health programs with individuals who are living with chronic mental illnesses. For the last three years, I have been in private practice where I specialize helping women of color process life stressors, mental health problems, and generational traumas, so they can be more intentional in creating the life they desire.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a strong background in trauma-informed care, anxiety treatment, and grief work. I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and respectful of your lived experience. I understand how past trauma, chronic stress, and life transitions can shape the nervous system and impact daily functioning, even when life looks “okay” on the outside. My role is to meet you where you are, without judgment, and help you make sense of your experiences while building practical tools for healing. I value authenticity, emotional safety, and meaningful connection in the therapeutic relationship.

Dr. Opelt has completed postdoctoral fellowships in research in Rehabilitation Psychology, with an emphasis on Multiple Sclerosis, at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and in clinical Rehabilitation and Pain Psychology at MedStar Health National Rehabilitation Hospital. He has focused his clinical work on adults who have concerns about insomnia, cognitive impairment, addiction, LGBT+ concerns, caregiver support, transplants, burn survivors, cancer, musculoskeletal diseases like MS and Parkinson’s disease, and those who have amputations. He is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and Illinois.
I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a Master of Science in Health Service Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. My education and professional experience in mental health, health care, and nutrition offer a depth and breadth of experience that enables me to view the whole person holistically.
A combination of lived experiences, years of training, and witnessing the lack of comprehensive and inclusive sexual education has centered my clinical priorities on LGBTQ+ clients and clients working through sexual health matters (including sexual exploration, gender and sexuality, non-monogamy, and healing from sexual trauma).
I’m glad you’re here. I'm passionate about working with couples and individuals. Cooperatively, we navigate relationships, family issues, trauma, anxiety, depression and more. Healing happens through relationships rooted in reciprocity and respect. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, supported and understood. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth. You don’t need to have everything figured out... we’ll move forward together at a pace that feels right for you.
