I have been in social work practice for over 12 years now. I have worked with various populations including those who are dealing with life stressors, in crisis, dealing with chronic illness, grief/loss, difficulty adjusting to life transitions, trauma and stress. I approach my clients with respect and with an open mind!
I am a therapist with extensive experience providing compassionate person centered care to individuals, couples and families. My approach is warm, supportive and non judgmental, with a focus on helping clients identify their own strengths, insights and solutions. I strive to create a safe and welcoming online environment where clients feel heard, respected and empowered. I also offer flexible scheduling including evening hours to make therapy more accessible.
Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience, I work with children, teens, adults, and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, stress, and life transitions. I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and understood. My goal is to help you gain insight, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change so you can live a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Mindfully focused to connect your presenting concern to your system, my style is to meet you where you are whether you need me to explain what we’re doing, or simply direct you. My approach is practical, direct, and occasionally humorous — I believe real progress happens when you feel are both, supported and challenged, not just listened to.
Over 30 years I've worked with individuals, couples, and families through some of the hardest seasons of life: chronic illness, painful grief, relationship breakdowns, severe ADHD, life hindering eating disorders, destructive anger, and major life transitions.
I singly raised my three children, and came to realize clinical training doesn’t compare to life experience... theory helps it’s just not enough to capture the big picture.
I've also spent significant time working with military families and first responders, rich in life experience. They seem to prefer my steady, no-nonsense mindset at times.
Also, a well trained 15 year-old Australian Shepherd occasionally joins sessions — let me know if you'd prefer this.
I believe that effective mental health care starts with trust, respect, and open communication. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns and experiences. I work with individuals facing a variety of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, and other psychiatric conditions. Together, we'll focus on understanding your unique experiences and developing a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values.
My journey began as a deeply personal quest for healing, shaped by significant challenges such as abandonment, neglect, and trauma. Overcoming hardships like poverty, familial substance abuse, and toxic relationships led me to a lifelong struggle with anxiety and feelings of isolation. In my search for relief, I explored countless self-help resources, pursued degrees in psychology, and experimented with therapeutic techniques, yet nothing seemed to offer lasting change.
Everything shifted for me about three years ago when I experienced a transformative moment that inspired the creation of the Blue Lotus Approach. This method has not only helped me heal but has also profoundly impacted my clients, guiding them toward self-awareness and resilience.
I have nearly a decade of experience working with a variety of individuals with many backgrounds. I emphasize the importance of a trauma-informed and supportive approach. I have expertise in treating a number of diagnoses, including ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and trauma. I offer a number of modalities, including CBT, MI, DBT, EMDR and IFS.
I earned an MSW from Tulane School of Social Work in 1989 and am a clinical social worker. I also practice Psychodrama and am a graduate of the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute in NY. I work primarily with musicians, actors & writers. I have a long history of working in non-profit agencies and schools, providing top notch care to disadvantaged and oppressed adolescents and families.
Hi, I'm Diana — a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with individuals and families, including older adults, navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, and life transitions. My background spans schools, foster care, supportive housing for youth, and outpatient mental health across New York and Florida. I know how hard it can be to find a therapist who truly understands your culture, your language, and the pressures you carry — whether that's family expectations, being the one everyone else leans on, health changes, caregiving, or figuring out who you are apart from everyone else's needs. Many of the people I work with are holding it together for everyone around them while quietly running on empty. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are and feel understood, in whichever language feels most like home.
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” — Mulan
For the past five years, I have been honored to walk alongside my clients as they navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and self-esteem issues. I also work with clients struggling with mood disorders, OCD, and personality disorders, amongst other conditions. My journey in this field began with my education at the University of Central Florida, where I built the foundation for my clinical practice. It has been my mission to create a space where you can be yourself and we can work together towards healing.
Taking the step to seek support isn’t easy, and I want to honor the courage it takes to be here. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Life Coach, and retired Army veteran who believes caring for your mental health is essential to living a balanced, fulfilling life. I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves. I work with teens and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or major life transitions, and I strive to meet you with respect, compassion, and understanding.
I'm a seasoned clinical social worker licensed in New York and Florida who has worked with all ages. I have my Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College Troy, New York in Sociology and Psychology. I received my Master's degree from The State University of New York at Albany with a focus on individual counseling. I've been a therapist for 16 years.
I specialize in depression, anxiety, PTSD,
obsessive compulsive disorder, addiction, panic attacks, trauma, grief and loss, geriatric issues, stress-related disorders, bipolar disorders and schizophrenia.
Therapy with me is very human and genuine. I don’t just focus on what’s painful or stuck but help to highlight the ways in which my clients overcome life's punches. While I take this work seriously, I believe laughter can be healing and disarming in therapy.
I earned my Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University and have worked in a variety of settings, including the foster care system, residential treatment, and community mental health. My background includes supporting individuals navigating trauma, persistent mental health conditions, substance use, eating disorders, and major life transitions. I’ve also worked with veterans, individuals who are unhoused, and LGBTQIA2S+ clients.
In my practice, I work with clients experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, trauma, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I also support clients with PTSD, some OCD presentations, and concerns related to gender, sexuality, and queer identity. My work is trauma-informed, affirming, and rooted in helping clients feel both emotionally safe and genuinely understood.

Headway makes it easier to connect with affirming therapists who understand your identity — from finding the right therapist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an LGBTQIA Therapist in Miami
Finding LGBTQIA+ therapists in Miami starts with identifying care that is affirming, specific, and aligned with what you want to address. Many people look for support related to identity, relationships, family dynamics, anxiety, depression, trauma, or life changes. As you compare therapists, look for profiles that mention LGBTQIA+-affirming care, affirmative therapy, gender-diverse experience, or training related to transgender and gender-expansive care. Finding an affirming therapist matters beyond credentials — it can shape how clearly a therapist understands your goals, context, and preferences.
Miami has many therapists across neighborhoods like Wynwood, Brickell, Little Havana, and Coconut Grove, which can make the search broad. Virtual sessions can also expand your options if you want a therapist with specific LGBTQIA+ experience or a schedule that fits your week. As you narrow your search, consider appointment availability, whether a therapist offers a free phone consultation, and whether their bio speaks directly to LGBTQIA+ populations. Reading profiles before booking can help you compare communication style, areas of focus, and the kind of support each therapist offers.
Therapy in Miami can be expensive without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed bios, verify your insurance, and see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking. You can browse LGBTQIA+ therapists in Miami, compare fit, and book directly when you’re ready.
