Headway Adds Two Seasoned Industry Veterans to Leadership
Headway is starting the year off strong with the addition of mental health industry veteran Dr. Nicole Christian-Braithwaite, and tech veteran Matt Hackett, to Headway’s leadership team. With a growing slate of seasoned leaders, Headway is positioned to continue its positive growth trajectory as the market-leading mental health care company.
In her role as Head of Medical and Clinical Strategy, Dr. Christian-Brathwaite will continue to support Headway’s clinicians in delivering high-quality clinical care. She will work closely with Headway’s payer partners as well, ensuring aligned strategies and incentives for Headway to connect patients with care that improves their health, lowering care costs and improving experience.
A nationally recognized Board-Certified Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Christian-Brathwaite is very active in the mental health care community. She is a member of the inaugural class of the Women’s Wellness through Equity and Leadership program, sponsored by the American Psychiatric Association and the American Physicians Foundation. She’s also on the Board of Directors of New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (NECCAP) and serves as Diversity Chair. Dr. Christian-Brathwaite specializes in perinatal and postpartum mental health, trauma-informed care, telepsychiatry, mental health in communities of color, school psychiatry, implicit bias, and racism in mental health. She operates her own private practice today, through which she accepts insurance and will utilize the Headway platform.
As Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Product, Matt Hackett will be responsible for overseeing the product, design, and research functions at Headway. He will drive strategy, planning, and execution for all products across the company’s three-sided marketplace (patient, provider, and payer). He’ll also play a key role in enhancing Headway’s product, design, and research teams with world-class talent.
Over the last 20 years, Matt has scaled complex product offerings in a variety of technical and operating roles. Most recently, he served as Interim COO to the virtual event platform Hopin. Earlier in his career, Matt co-founded social company Beme, where he served as CTO. Upon sale to CNN in 2016, Matt served as General Manager of the Beme unit of CNN for two years. He is an engineer by training, and served as VP, Engineering of Tumblr before its acquisition.
Matt first met Andrew Adams, Headway CEO, early in the company’s journey, and was the first angel investor in Headway in 2018. Prior to joining Headway in this official capacity, he’s been a deeply involved investor and advisor, seeing first-hand the game-changing work and successes our team has achieved to build the easiest way for people to get quality in-network mental health care.
Welcome to the team, Dr. Christian-Brathwaite and Matt! We’re thrilled to have you help us shape the future of accessible mental health care.
