Building the foundation of care: Headway’s 2025 company report
Access was the work of our first six years. In 2025, we went further: strengthening the care itself.
More than 65,000 mental health providers now practice on Headway, delivering care to millions of patients covered by over 100 health plans. Since day one, providers on Headway have delivered more than 30 million appointments. That scale is what makes the next chapter possible. Better tools for providers, a better experience for patients, and real choice in how care gets delivered.
Key highlights from 2025
- A network that keeps growing. 22,000+ new providers joined Headway this year, bringing our network past 65,000. We put a few of them in the spotlight through Purpose in practice, a series on why clinicians chose this work.
- A free EHR built for insurance-based practice. We expanded our electronic health record into an all-in-one platform designed alongside providers: AI-assisted notes, integrated telehealth, a centralized forms library, flexible billing. Four months after launch, providers had already submitted over one million AI-assisted notes.
- Integrated care, nationwide. Primary care is where most mental health conversations start. Our nationwide integrated care launch turns a referral into a direct path to an in-network therapist or prescriber.
- A patient experience that gets people to care faster. Guided intake and clearer search results help patients find the provider who actually fits. The average patient went from search to care in 4.2 days, and 82% came back for a third appointment.
- Culture, evolved. With over 800 team members, we relaunched our six cultural principles: the shared values and ways of working that keep us accountable to the mission.
Gratitude for our community
These milestones belong to the providers who bring expertise and compassion to every session, the health plans who partner with us to widen access, and the patients who trust us with their care. Thank you.
There’s still a great deal of work ahead. In 2026 we’ll keep investing in clinical quality, expanding the tools providers rely on, and giving patients more real choice in the care they receive.
Together, we’re not just imagining a new mental health care system, we’re building it.
