Headway Joins Horizon Network to Support Patient Access to Quality Mental Health Care

Headway, creator of the first full-stack software-enabled national network of therapists, today announced its collaboration with Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc. (Horizon), and will be an in-network provider group available for commercially insured members of New Jersey’s oldest and largest health insurer. This arrangement will help to improve patient experience for Horizon plan members seeking a mental health clinician to meet their needs. Over half of the 1 in 5 Americans with a treatable mental health condition do not get access to care. Two of the primary reasons are cost and lack of provider availability. This is because most providers practice out of network as solo practitioners without the tools or infrastructure to accept insurance. As demand for mental health services continues to rise and many seek care through their insurance plan, there is a clear imbalance between supply and demand.

Headway’s software makes it easier for providers to accept and manage insurance in their practice. Horizon members can now find and book appointments with Headway’s network of quality therapists, many of whom were previously out of network. Using Headway’s platform, members are able to find an appointment within an average of 5 days. Headway offers both in-person and virtual appointments to best address member needs.

Headway will greatly expand its network of new therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists across New Jersey before the end of the year to meet the rising demand for outpatient mental healthcare. This growth will add to Headway’s existing network of over 7,000 clinicians, with over 300 already operating in the New Jersey market.
