I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for adults who are navigating life’s challenges. My approach is collaborative and focused on helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change. I also offer Christian counseling in a way that supports both emotional healing and spiritual growth.
Mental health issues may be difficult to discuss with loved ones, especially if there are cultural barriers. As an Asian American, I experienced the phenomenon of feeling like I had two separate identities. I often felt like an outsider as I questioned “who am I?” While there are many cultural barriers we must face with mental health, you don’t have to face them alone! I can help you navigate your experiences with cultural identification, family communication, children’s mental health, (e.g. depression, anxiety, and/or behavioral concern), parenting, and diversity.
I am a Licensed Clinical social worker in Virginia & DC. I possess over 5 years of mental health experience working with adults, adolescents, and children. I have worked in a variety of settings such as: schools, inpatient hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, and residential facilities.
Thank you for reaching out for assistance. I have been providing mental health interventions and support for 36 years as an LCSW. I have also been credentialed as a trauma and ICU nurse and very early on in my professional life I was a special education teacher and received a masters in education as well.
My first few decades in practice was dedicated to the care and treatment of children 4 -12 years of age and adolescents 13 to 18 many who had been adjudicated for protection. Because of my nursing background and work in oncology I also have experience in providing supportive care for loss and grief issues as well as education and support for chronic illness, and post trauma care.
I have in the past 15 years began to work also with adults. I am licensed in EMDR interventions for PTSD both acute and chronic post trauma effects.
Because of my medical background i try and include a holistic approach to understanding both the physical and psychological issues my clients may be experiencing .
Hi, I’m Johnathan, and I believe therapy is most effective when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to navigate life’s challenges and build on your strengths. Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of mental health settings, including inpatient care, substance use treatment, school-based therapy, outpatient therapy, and with first responders. I am also trained in EMDR and have experience helping clients work through trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and other life difficulties. Whether you’re feeling stuck or seeking personal growth, my goal is to help you find healing, hope, and greater alignment in your life.
Life can feel like juggling 20 things at once—especially when you’re trying to heal, grow, and keep everything together. You may look capable on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, distracted, misunderstood, or stuck.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting adults through ADHD, anxiety, mood concerns, burnout, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with women, neurodivergent adults, POC , and anyone who has ever felt different, judged, or outside of what society considers “normal.”
My approach makes room for culture, identity, and each client’s lived experience.
My style is relaxed, warm, open-minded, and direct. You will not have to mask, perform, or edit yourself in sessions. I provide a judgment-free space where we can be honest, explore what is really happening, and develop realistic steps toward your goals.
Evening and late-evening appointments are available for clients who need therapy to fit around work, parenting, school, or everyday life.

I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Virginia 6 years ago. I studied at Wake Forest University. Since I was younger, I've enjoyed helping others and learning about the science of mental health. It became my hobby when I was younger. I enjoy working with so many backgrounds and increasing my education each year as I help new people. Currently, I like to utilize mindfulness based CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I work with individual adults and certain families who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, sad, lonely, sensitive, anxious, or defeated. If you're feeling heavy by everything going on, or feeling frantic, or having conflict in your relationships or are just feeling lost in any way, I would love to see if I can help! I also work with family units going through transition or strain, such as conflict between a parent and their adult child, or supporting parents who are experiencing difficult things with their child or teen.
I have a lot of experience helping people through loss, whether it's a breakup, losing a job, or a loved one - including loss of a pet, which is a specialty of mine. I have special interest in supporting other therapists, and also community organizers and activists who are engaged in social justice work. Many of my clients are trans or NB, and others are gay, lesbian, or queer. Poly and kink affirming.
I offer telehealth services to clients in California, Idaho, Washington, or Virginia.
