We can move forward, overcome, learn and grow, seeking peace, balance, happiness. I was a NYS Certified School Psychologist for 16 years, and have 7 years of combined supervised and licensed experience as a Mental Health Counselor. I have several degrees in addition to Mental Health Counseling which broadens my perspectives and experience. I was a Training Consultant for Dale Carnegie Training. I also have a Jack Nash Honors MBA, working in foreign exchange capital markets for several years. Counseling however is my calling, my purpose.
Hello, I’m Dr. Priyanka Parikh, and I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist (PsyD) with extensive experience providing evidence-based, compassionate care to adults from a wide range of backgrounds including Veterans, students, individuals from traditionally underserved communities, and people navigating chronic medical or mental health conditions.
Hi, I’m Victoria Nielsen, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported. Whether you’re coming to therapy for the first time, returning after time away, or simply looking for support as you navigate the day-to-day challenges of life, I want you to feel comfortable bringing your whole self into the room.
I work with young adults and adults experiencing anxiety, big or overwhelming emotions, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, life transitions, or feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. I also enjoy working with individuals who consider themselves highly sensitive or who experience emotions and the world around them deeply. Sometimes there’s a specific concern bringing you to therapy, and other times you may simply feel that something isn’t quite right or that you want to better understand yourself.
Clients have described me as warm, non-judgemental, and easy to talk to. I also believe there is room for humor and moments of lightness in therapy, even when we’re working through difficult things. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be yourself, feel comfortable being honest, and know that you’ll be met without judgment.
I have a longstanding passion for psychiatric mental health, which drives my work as a Nurse Practitioner. With over five years of experience in mental health and a strong foundation as a Registered Nurse, I bring knowledge, empathy, and dedication to every patient interaction. I am committed to listening carefully and providing compassionate, individualized care.
I was born and raised in Montana and have a genuine passion for nature and the outdoors. I received my Bachelors in Psychology at Montana State University in 2001. I then pursued my Masters of Social Work degree and graduated in 2008 from the University of Montana. This graduate program had a focus on providing a social justice and integrated practitioner perspective. I have an eclectic style that can be tailored to each unique individual. My primary therapeutic methods include Mindfulness Based, Holistic, Exposure, Narrative, Cognitive and Behavioral, Strengths Based & Solution Focused Therapies. I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate environment that often helps people feel comfortable. A true passion of mine is structuring therapeutic activities for clients to express, process, increase self-awareness, and de-stress from life’s challenging and developmental experiences.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a LGBTQIA Therapist in Brooklyn
Searching for LGBTQIA+ therapists in Brooklyn starts with finding identity-affirming care. A strong match may have experience with LGBTQIA+ identity, gender exploration, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, or family dynamics. Look for therapists who mention affirmative therapy, WPATH training, gender-diverse experience, or LGBTQIA+ populations in their profiles. These details can help you find someone whose listed training and specialties match what you want to discuss in care.
Brooklyn has many mental health care options, but affirming therapists with the right availability, location, and insurance fit may take time to sort through. Virtual appointments can expand your options beyond the nearest office while still giving you access to therapists licensed in New York. As you compare therapists, consider appointment times, whether they offer a free phone consultation, and how they describe their approach. Reading bios can also help you understand communication style, identity-affirming experience, and what a first session may look like.
Therapy in Brooklyn can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps make that step clearer by showing LGBTQIA+ therapists who are accepting new patients and accept a wide range of insurance plans. You can enter your insurance details to see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before booking, then review profiles and book directly when you’re ready.
