I am a Licensed Mental Health and Addictions Counselor and am currently returning to school to pursue a Master’s Degree in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, with the goal of holistically integrating mental and physical well-being. I began my counseling career working and volunteering in drug rehabilitation centers and community mental health centers and later gained experience within the criminal justice system through work in county jails and the Colorado state prison system, where I have been practicing since 2016.

I am Ramon Recio, a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with more than thirty years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s most difficult chapters. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and completed doctoral coursework in Counselor Education and Supervision. My career has spanned community mental health centers, hospital systems, and private practice in both New York City and the greater Tampa Bay area, including my current work as a Behavioral Health Psychotherapist at BayCare Behavioral Health, St. Joseph’s Hospital.

I take a Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) approach, which allows for long-term benefits in fewer sessions than other counseling models. I was intensively trained in EMDR and believe the focus of counseling is to not only work on managing your current struggles, but to develop the tools needed to independently manage future obstacles as well. I use a combination of reflective listening, as well as an instructional approach, to help guide you towards becoming the best version of you!
