Everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Whether addressing addiction, mood disorders, or other mental health challenges, I strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my clients by offering comprehensive, integrative care. Hey! I'm Christina, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with 7 years experience providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy on an outpatient basis. I am thoroughly trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), two off-shoots of CBT that incorporate acceptance and mindfulness. I currently serve as the chapter president for Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences, and I am a contributing author to an upcoming manual on a developing integrative therapy, Contextually-focused DBT. Basically, I'm a therapy nerd. I love and believe in my practice, and am always on the hunt to learn more and be the best therapist I can be.
I practice affirming, allied, feminist therapy rooted in empowerment and strengths perspectives. I acknowledge that late-stage capitalism is an implicit factor in functioning. I believe sleep, calories, and movement form the foundation for coping.
Dr. Rivera employs an integrative style that focuses on the individual's sleep, diet, physical and mental fitness. He enjoys working in particular with weight loss, men's wellness, de-prescription from psychotropic medications, and detox from long-term substance use: tobacco, alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines. Furthermore, he specializes in the diagnosis and management of attention, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) with over five years of experience helping adults manage anxiety, ADHD, substance use, and relationship stress. My approach is practical and collaborative—I help you find real steps that make life feel steadier and more manageable. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in roles that taught me what real stress looks like, which helps me stay grounded and relatable in the room.
My interest is to provide a supportive and collaborative approach to therapy so we can work to address issues such as anxiety, depression, past traumas, grief and loss, and parenting and relationship challenges. I appreciate working with people going through periods of transition and those hoping to implement lasting change. Although I enjoy working with people to build better relationships, I do not do couples counseling.
Deciding on a therapist can be a daunting experience; I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience. I provide psychotherapy services via video and phone sessions. I have always known there was a need for high-quality mental health providers. Therefore, I focus my clinical practice on providing high-quality services and evidence-based interventions to my clients. I have treated many clients with a variety of diagnoses including: addiction, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD and attention deficit disorder.
I have a strong passion to help people, and truly believe in each individual’s strengths and abilities. Some of the treatment modalities used are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Strengths-Based approach in an unbiased and non judgmental manner. Thus allowing me to create the holding space my clients need.
I have realized that when we understand our strengths and have developed them we are able to improve and or have a better quality of life. Sometimes we do not understand that a crisis can affect many different areas in our life and recognizing and acknowledging it is the first step in our journey to healing.
