I am a therapist who understands that everyone’s mind works differently. When you know your mind works differently from other people, you need a therapist whose mind works differently too. I have 15 years experience working with:
Neurodiverse folks (adhd, autism spectrum, sensory processing issues, AuDHD), animal people, grief and loss related to pets and people, menopause, elders, introverts, empaths, those experiencing social anxiety, isolation and/or loneliness, chronic health issues, life changes (including menopause) and life purpose. I also have experience working with the Native American community.
Being a "pre-elder", I've led many chapters of my life and have learned from every single one (even the cringey ones). It has taught me to focus on what is truly valuable and fulfilling and how to be comfortable just being me. I hope these things are cultivated in the therapeutic relationship with clients. My own neurospiciness allows me to connect with others that experience the world in a different way than neurotypical folks do, and my love for animals and kindness makes therapy with HSPs, empaths, introverts and animal people more connected as well.
The therapeutic approach I commonly use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on changing thought patterns, and Psychodynamic Therapy, which explores past experiences and unconscious conflicts.
I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Nina, a licensed therapist who is passionate about helping people feel better and live more fulfilling lives. I’ve worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and offer services in both English and Spanish. My goal is to support your well-being by helping you build skills, navigate challenges, and create healthier, more meaningful relationships.
I run Unscripted Therapy, a practice focused on helping people break out of stuck patters.
I work with individuals who are tired of having the same conversations and somehow ending up right back where they started. Whether it’s anxiety, stress, or relationship patterns that keep repeating, something isn’t working and at this point, that’s pretty clear.
My approach is direct, collaborative, and focused on actually changing what’s not working. I’m not going to just sit there nodding while you vent and then ask how that made you feel for the tenth time. We’ll figure out what’s keeping you stuck and start doing something different about it.
Therapy with me is honest, practical, and yes, sometimes a little blunt. But it’s also real. If you’re looking for something that actually helps you move forward (not just talk about why you’re stuck), we’ll probably be a good fit.
Please note: Insurance is accepted for individual therapy only. Couples and family therapy are private pay and are not billed through insurance.
Have you ever heard the saying "the mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master?" Many people find themselves caught in patterns of thought that feel automatic and hard to step away from. Rather than trying to eliminate these thoughts, we change how you relate to them. This happens in two main ways. The first is through mindfulness. Not mindfulness as meditation or yoga, but as intentional awareness of your patterns of thinking and feeling. The second is values, meaning what matters most to you and what you want your life to stand for. These values serve as a compass to guide your decisions.
I have found my own personal healing to be intimately connected to nature, and it is here that I believe that we can all begin to rediscover our intrinsic humanity and let go of those things that distract us from our higher selves. In my spare time, I work as an outdoor educator and manage my own private practice and guide Outdoor Retreats
I believe it is helpful and important to translate what is discussed in session and in telehealth meetings into lived experience and real change.
As a bilingual therapist fluent in Spanish, I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore their challenges and build resilience.
I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and have over 15 years of experience in the field. I bring a compassionate, understanding, and open approach to therapy. I will be there to listen without judgment, gently challenge you when needed, and support you as you work toward your goals and create meaningful change in your life.
