Xin chào! I am a relationally-oriented Jungian depth psychotherapist with degrees from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I enjoy working with creatives, students of psychotherapy, and those dedicated to a life oriented toward meaningfulness.
I believe meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood. As a queer therapist, I recognize the importance of having a space where you can show up authentically, without fear of judgment. My goal is to create a warm, affirming, and collaborative environment where you feel comfortable exploring your experiences, navigating challenges, and discovering new ways of understanding yourself.
I enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, identity exploration, self-esteem, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about creating an affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals and others who may have struggled to feel fully understood or accepted.
My academic background combines neuroscience, which I studied during my undergraduate education, with my graduate education in clinical psychology. This foundation has shaped my curiosity about the connections between the brain, emotions, behavior, and the experiences that make us who we are. I bring this perspective into my work, balancing an understanding of the science behind mental health with an appreciation for the complexity of each person's individual story.
Above all, I believe therapy is a partnership. You are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy, insight, and genuine curiosity as we work toward greater self-understanding, emotional well-being, and a life that feels more authentic, aligned, and fulfilling.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Social Work. I specialize in relationships, anxiety, depression, fears/phobias, couples work, creativity, career enhancement among other goals. I have an eclectic treatment modality including psychodynamic, self-psychology, cognitive-behavioral, hypnotherapy and NLP.
I completed my Master's in Counseling Psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. I have over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field varying from community youth work, psychiatric inpatient nursing, and counseling. I became licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist in April 2023, accruing over 4 years of experience providing psychotherapy to clients in the LGBTQ and immigrant communities navigating mood, identity, and relationships.
I entered into this field to help individuals to learn, grow and heal at their own pace. I fundamentally believe that we are the experts of ourselves and our experiences. My role through my education, learning and experience is to support clients’ in unlocking their awareness of patterns to increase the clients’ ability to access the tools within them to facilitate their learning, growth and healing through a collaborative process.
As a Black/African American woman, I am passionate about working with people of color (especially people of color who identify as LGBTIA+) in destigmatizing mental health in our communities and identifying how systemic racism/systemic oppression affect our mental health.
My strengths as a therapist are rooted in fifteen years of experience working in the field as a mental health clinician in a variety of settings. I have supported individual’s ability to access their inherent tools to overcome struggles connected to trauma, grief & loss, depression and general anxiety. Over the course of my experience I have developed skills in providing therapy to underrepresented, underserviced families, children, individuals, and couples. I also have a wealth of experience supporting youth involved in the juvenile justice system, oppositional teens, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I’m Saby Kirpal, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner committed to providing thorough, well-rounded mental health care. I hold Master’s degrees from both Chamberlain University and Walden University, where I graduated with Presidential Honors, a reflection of my dedication to high clinical standards.
My professional experience spans inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, and outpatient clinics, which has given me a clear understanding of mental health care at every level. My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders across all age groups. I care for children as young as eight, teens, and adults, and young people and their families are always welcome in my practice. My work has included crisis stabilization, residential programs, and ongoing medication management.
What makes my practice distinctive is the way I blend my nursing background with psychiatric expertise. I understand how physical health, medications, daily habits, and mental health all affect one another. I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi and speak conversational Spanish, which allows me to serve diverse communities and appreciate the many ways culture shapes how people experience mental health.
My work has taken me from UCSF Health to community clinics, and those experiences taught me that excellent care depends far more on the relationship than on the setting. Whether you are seeking help for the first time, transitioning between clinicians, or managing an ongoing condition, I am here to partner with you. I always listen first, explain things clearly, and make decisions with you rather than for you. Treatment should never feel like something done to you; it should be something we navigate together. I am dedicated to creating a space where you feel respected, understood, and truly supported, and every step forward, however small, is worth celebrating.
