Healing isn't about fixing what's broken; it's about understanding how your mind and body adapted to survive and discovering new ways to thrive.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona specializing in trauma, attachment, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship patterns, and nervous system healing. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and am currently completing my PhD in Transpersonal Psychology. My doctoral research explores the lived experience of healing developmental trauma through attachment repair, somatic integration, inner-child healing, and innate healing processes that support lasting transformation.
Many people come to therapy believing they're broken, when in reality they're living with nervous systems that adapted to survive difficult experiences. I believe healing begins by understanding those protective patterns with compassion and helping them soften so you can live with greater freedom, connection, and authenticity.
Whether you're navigating the effects of childhood trauma, painful relationships, chronic stress, grief, or recovery from substance use, therapy can help you understand the patterns that once protected you while creating new ones that support a more fulfilling life.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both research and experience. I integrate Somatic Experiencing, attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, parts work, and evidence-informed trauma treatment to help clients move beyond insight into meaningful, embodied healing. My work focuses not only on understanding your story, but also on helping your nervous system experience safety, connection, and lasting change.
If you've always been the one holding everything together while quietly struggling on the inside, you don't have to do it alone. Together, we'll build greater resilience, self-compassion, healthier relationships, and a deeper connection with the person you want to become.
I’m originally from the North West where I earned a BA in Recreation and Leisure at Eastern Washington University. I began my career overseas working with military members and their families. I had the pleasure of working with Army, Air Force, Navy and Army Recruiting Command as a DOD Civilian. My service took me to Ft. Lewis, WA, Korea, Guam, Germany, and Syracuse NY. I later studied and earned a Masters in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters of Social Work from Syracuse University in New York.
I began to practice as a Social Worker for Indian Health Services with an Apache Tribe in Arizona. My last years of service were with the Veteran Administration as a Social Worker on an Acute Psychiatric Unit in Wyoming and as a Military Sexual Assault Program Manager in Washington.
My travels have exposed me to a diversity of people from many walks of life. I am comfortable with many backgrounds, cultures, believes, and counties of origin. I am welcoming to LBGTQIA, Female and Male alike.
I'm a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who supports teens, young adults, and families working through constant worry, big emotions, focus challenges, and the impact of difficult life experiences. Before specializing in psychiatry five years ago, I spent 13 yeas in emergency medicine, where I learned how deeply people need to feel seen and supported during overwhelming moments. That experience shaped my approach today: blending medical expertise with genuine curiosity, compassion, and respect for YOUR story. My goal is to create a space where you feel, safe, understood, and able to explore what you are going through with clarity and confidence.
Welcome. I'm Sarah Simpson, PhD (c), LCSW, CST, and I believe healing happens when the mind, body, and nervous system work together. I help individuals and couples heal from trauma, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with themselves through an integrative approach that includes somatic therapy, attachment theory, and Clinical Sexology.
Together, we'll explore how past experiences may be affecting your relationships, emotions, and nervous system today. My goal is to help you build self-trust, improve emotional regulation, create healthier boundaries, and develop more secure, connected relationships.
I work with concerns including trauma, relationship challenges, intimacy, sexuality, betrayal, attachment, shame, and nervous system regulation. I provide a warm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental space for clients of all sexual orientations, gender identities, relationship structures, and cultural backgrounds.
Taking the first step toward healing can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. I would be honored to support you on your journey.
