I attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene Texas and received my Master's in Family Psychology. After many years of work in a non profit adoption agency and in several psychiatric hospitals, I found my passion lies in working with individuals that want to explore their past to inform their current functioning. Although the hot "it" therapies offer quick fixes, I believe you must first understand yourself before you can understand the root of your issues.
My personal and professional experiences have shaped my passion for supporting others through life’s transitions. As a military spouse for many years, I experienced firsthand the challenges of relocation, adapting to new environments, and rebuilding support systems. I have experience supporting individuals and families through grief, medical challenges, and emotional stress in both medical and school settings. I support adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and feelings of overwhelm or disconnection. I especially enjoy helping people through significant changes and adjusting to new seasons of life.
William brings one of the more distinctive backgrounds on the Headway platform: a former Army Chaplain with over 15 years active military experience, personal experience with therapy, and a rich modality set spanning EMDR, EFT for couples, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems, and Narrative Art Therapy. Married with adult children, he is ready to walk alongside his clients to help them through and out of their situation and onto reaching goals of their own. I have a variety of experience providing individual, family, and couples therapy to a range of clients from young children to adults. Having worked in environments including the school system, outpatient facilities and private practice, I have a solid understanding of how to collaborate with clients to identify their needs and provide appropriate support or connect to the right community resources. Throughout my career, I have gained experience with navigating conflict resolution, addressing general DSM-5 diagnosis’, and helping clients increase emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and board-approved supervisor in Texas. I received my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the effects of past experiences that continue to show up in the present.
In my work, I focus on creating a space that feels steady, supportive, and nonjudgmental. Many of the people I work with aren’t always sure where to start. They may just know that something feels off or overwhelming. Together, we begin to make sense of those experiences in a way that feels more manageable.
