Hi there and congratulations on beginning your therapy journey!
I am a licensed Clinical Social worker with over 3 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents and adults. I aim to help clients build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. I have experience treating a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders and PTSD. Therapy is a big step, and I am so grateful you're here.
Hi. I'm glad you're here. The decision to ask for help is a brave and difficult choice, and I'm proud of you for making it. I might be a good fit for you if you're looking for someone who has been where you're at. In addition to my own experiences with mental health and life challenges, I have worked in substance use disorder treatment, inpatient psychiatric treatment, and community risk assessment/management.
I am a seasoned professional who has worked in various settings within Healthcare including crisis intervention and chronic conditions such as Cancer.
Welcome—I’m glad you’re here. Choosing to seek support is an act of courage, and your future self will thank you for showing yourself kindness today. My name is Renee. I graduated from University of Southern California School of Social Work in 2014. I specialize in working with individuals carrying the weight of significant trauma, addictions, unresolved grief, and painful life experiences that can feel isolating or overwhelming. I support those who struggle with trust after unhealthy relationships, major life transitions, or who have turned to alcohol or other substances to cope with emotional pain.
I also work with individuals healing from addiction, substance use, and mental health challenges, and I have experience supporting military families as they navigate the unique barriers of having a loved one in the military, as well as serving Veterans. My goal is to offer a supportive space for healing, connection, and meaningful change.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Illinois and Michigan, I believe that therapy is your space, shaped by what you need right now.
With 13+ years of experience in community mental health, residential treatment, and inpatient psychiatry, I provide therapy and parent coaching to:
- Children (5 years and older) & Families
- Young Adults & Adults
- Parents & Caregivers
I work alongside individuals navigating hard moments—especially those who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or powerless. Often, the people I work with are themselves experiencing or have a loved one impacted by:
- major life stress or conflict at home or school/work
- trauma
- grief and loss
- depression
- anxiety
- psychosis
- mania
- substance use
You are the expert on your own life and your own healing. My role is to meet you where you are and walk with you on your path, sometimes guiding, sometimes following, but mostly walking side-by-side.
I have been counseling people of all ages for 43 years. I begin with listening to your story. I not only want to hear it; I want to understand it as well. Sometimes, this mutual understanding alone is all that a client needs. During the intake process, I will ask you detailed questions to further understanding of your situation and issues you are dealing with right now. Next, we will work together to form a plan of action which will guide our sessions together, which typically last 45 – 50 minutes. This plan of action will focus on helping you, the client, work towards solving problems and issues that you present. Did I mention that takes work? Achieving understanding of issues and taking appropriate actions towards wellness both take time, concentration and energy.
