Hello, my name is Denise M. Hunter-Mitchell, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
My therapeutic perspective begins and ends with grace. I entered this profession to support individuals as they reflect, create space for healing, and move toward lives shaped by purpose, balance, and meaning.
I believe healing occurs when people are met with compassion, patience, and the freedom to grow at their own pace.
I am a clinical social worker who has worked with all ages, from birth to elderly. I have a Masters in Social Work and am also a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. My speciality areas are children and the LGBTQ+ community.
I began this journey just seeking to learn about psychology and the nature of human behavior. The more I learned, the more I became fascinated with how resilient humans are in the face of significant challenges. However, what I found was that people will continue to live with underlying pain, because of the stigma previously put on people seeking help with mental health and trauma issues. I found that people created their own ways of coping and it often involved creating more harm. I knew at this time that I wanted to help people begin to face tough emotions and move toward healing the emotional pain.
I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1991 and a Master of Science Degree in General Psychology in 1993 from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. I later went back for another Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in Kansas City, MO in 2014.
I have worked in the areas of domestic violence, at-risk youth, at-risk families, foster and adoption, and addiction. I specialize in working with trauma and addiction.
As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, my goal is to create hope and help people to realize that together we can overcome whatever struggles they are facing. I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I have been a nurse for 27 years, and I strive to show compassion and understanding to everyone who needs help.
I believe in meeting my clients where they're at. They are the expert in their own story. I'm just here to listen, help process, maybe challenge, and encourage them in their journey. I went to Newman University for my Master's Degree and went on to get my Clinical License. I have worked with varying populations including teens, adults, geriatrics, the prison population, couples counseling, and Christian Counseling. I enjoy working with people who have been through trauma or grief or have experienced anxiety or depression.

I earned my PhD at Oklahoma State University where I specialized in suicide prevention and depression. From there, I completed my residency at The Ohio State University where I specialized in PTSD, suicide prevention, and women’s behavioral health. Currently, I am completing my fellowship at The Ohio State University where I am working purely in research. Currently, I am accepting clients that wish to address PTSD and trauma, women’s health issues such as postpartum depression and anxiety, traumatic birth experiences, fetal loss and miscarriages, etc., as well as clients experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and mild to moderate depression and anxiety. I can offer a variety of evidence based treatment options including Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention, Behavioral Activation for Depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety and Depression, the Unified Protocol, Concurrent Treatment of PTSD and Substance Use Disorders Using Prolonged Exposure (COPE), and Brief Psychodynamic Therapy.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel seen without having to over-explain yourself. My role is to help you reconnect with your strengths, deepen your relationships, and move through life with greater self-trust and ease.
I am drawn to matters of the heart, the deep questions we ask, how we find meaning, move through pain, and become more free. My own healing through relationships, therapy, spirituality, expressive arts, and body movement led me to become a therapist. I completed my MA in Couples and Family Therapy from Seattle University in 2019, opened my private practice in 2021, and have trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy for 6 years. I also bring experience as a yoga instructor, doula trainee, and spiritual seeker.
I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management of ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout your mental health journey.
I believe that every person's story is unique, so I take the time to understand your concerns, symptoms, lifestyle, and treatment goals before developing an individualized care plan. I incorporate medication management with supportive counseling and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and Motivational Interviewing, to help you build practical coping skills and achieve lasting improvement.
Whether you're struggling with difficulty focusing, persistent worry, overwhelming stress, low mood, emotional challenges, or life transitions, I work collaboratively with you to help you regain balance and improve your overall well-being. My focus is on delivering personalized, compassionate care that supports meaningful, long-term success in both your mental health and daily life.
Brittany is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master of social work degree from Walden University. With over seven years of experience in the field of social work, she brings a wide-ranging background that includes working with the Children’s Division, in hospital settings, with geriatrics, and school-based social work. This diverse experience has given her a deep understanding of individuals across the lifespan and the unique challenges they face. Helping others through therapy is more than just a career, it’s a calling. Brittany believes deeply in the power of trauma-informed care and support, and the healing that comes from having a safe, judgment-free space to process and grow. She also believes in the importance of identifying the root cause of symptoms, rather than just managing surface-level issues.
If you’re feeling weighed down by anxiety, depression, trauma, mood shifts, or ADHD symptoms and wondering whether medication could help, you’re not alone. I work with teens and adults navigating mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, and stress-related challenges.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my mix of medical expertise and genuine compassion. With a background in both psychiatry and intensive medical care, I understand how closely the mind and body are connected. My goal is to make care accessible and consistent, which is why I offer flexible scheduling and telehealth appointments.
In our first sessions, we’ll review your history, clarify your symptoms, and determine whether medication is appropriate. If it is, we’ll build a treatment plan that feels realistic, evidence-based, and aligned with your goals and overall health.
Outside of work, I find balance through yoga, comedy, time with my dog, and enjoying sunny days — reminders that healing comes from both steady progress and moments of joy.
Allison L Schulte, LSCSW, is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker who offers therapeutic services to adults, adolescents, and children experiencing depression, anxiety, cognitive impairments such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, personality disorders, grief and loss, significant stress, relationship difficulties, and other social or emotional concerns. Taryn Hodison's treatment approach is eclectic in nature but she mainly uses psychodynamic therapy in her practice. Clients benefit from her services if they are ready to examine and develop insight into how past experiences impact their present lives. Clients will be validated and gently challenged in therapy to get through the mental blocks that keep them stuck.
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in working with individual adults. I support clients navigating ADHD, neurodivergence, emotional regulation, relationship patterns, identity, and life transitions. My work is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and grounded in the belief that therapy can help you better understand yourself, strengthen self-trust, and the clinical belief that any person can change course in life at any time.
I draw from approaches such as EFT, IFS, ACT, and integrative experiential techniques, tailoring our work to your unique needs and goals. Together, we’ll explore emotions, patterns, and strategies that help you feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to yourself and the relationships that matter most.
