Welcome! If this is your first stop in deciding whether therapy is right for you, congratulations. I know it can be incredibly difficult to take the first step towards finding a therapist who is the right fit for you. As a therapist, my primary goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and understood. I view therapy as a cooperative space between us. You are the expert of your life, and my job is to ask the right questions to bring clarity, direction, and self-compassion. Sometimes, this looks like sitting in silence together. Other times, it looks like a gentle nudge to push you towards the potential we both know you have.
I earned my Master's in Counseling and PsyD at Fuller Theological Seminary. I have had the privilege of working in hospitals, universities, private practice, and community mental health settings, and these experiences have given me a broad perspective on the unique difficulties facing individuals. My clinical training includes a specialty in spirituality and religious experiences (i.e., religious trauma and deconstruction). I work with individuals 18+ and help individuals who are navigating life transitions and/or relationship difficulties.
"You aren’t defined by your past—you are the author of what comes next."
Life can often feel like a story we no longer want to be in. Whether you are navigating the complexities of anxiety, trauma, or the unique pressures of adolescence, I am here to help you rewrite the narrative. My approach is rooted in Systems Theory and Solution-Focused Therapy, meaning we look at the big picture of your life while building practical tools for immediate growth.
I work with individuals, couples, and families to create a space that is warm, welcoming, and entirely yours. Together, we will turn "feeling stuck" into a journey of empowerment. I’m a proud graduate of the University of West GA and National University, and I’m ready to help you start your next chapter
I am a native of Coastal Georgia. He attended St. Leo University, where I obtained my undergraduate degree in Human Resources. I went on to obtain two Master’s degrees: one in Public Administration, from Columbus State University and the other in Clinical Counseling, from South University.
Hi, I’m Triana Smith, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I believe you don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel understood, and make sense of what you’ve been experiencing without fear of judgment.
I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with particular interests in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, identity, and major life transitions. With 3,500+ direct clinical hours, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and at many different stages of life.
I especially enjoy working with people who may feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by life’s demands, or unsure of who they are or what comes next. I also work with individuals and couples navigating communication difficulties, relationship patterns, emotional disconnection, grief, or the impact of past experiences on their current relationships.
My background includes trauma-focused work, and I approach each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their individual story. I believe that even the parts of ourselves we may feel ashamed of, frustrated by, or wish we could change deserve to be understood rather than judged.
For clients who desire it, I also provide Christian, faith-integrated therapy. Faith can be a meaningful source of hope, identity, strength, and healing, and I’m happy to incorporate Christian beliefs, values, and spirituality into therapy when that is important to you. You never have to fit into a particular mold—our work will always be guided by your needs, values, and goals.
My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can move from simply surviving to truly thriving—developing greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, stronger confidence, and a deeper sense of purpose.
Everyone's mental health journey is different, so I don't believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. I take the time to understand who you are—not just your symptoms—so we can build a treatment plan that works for your goals, your lifestyle, and your values. As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I care for children, adolescents, and adults through thoughtful psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Whether you're seeking answers, support, or a fresh start, I'm here to partner with you every step of the way.
Talking about your feelings, thoughts, and experiences with anyone can be challenging, especially with a complete stranger. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and judgement free space for you to reflect and navigate through the various seasons of your life.
What is your approach to therapy?Whether you have specific goals or simply need a listening ear, I utilize a variety of approaches to assist clients in accomplishing their goals and navigating difficult situations. I use a holistic and collaborative approach, providing encouragement, accountability, and direct feedback to assist clients with their individual needs. Some of my areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, trauma, and interpersonal communication skills.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?I hope to use my training and experience to help you overcome obstacles, identify your strengths, manage stress, and learn helpful coping skills to propel you forward. Like many things in life, therapy can be uncomfortable and scary at first, but I'd be honored to walk with you and encourage you along this journey.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe that hope and healing are possible for everyone. My counseling approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change can occur when individuals, couples, and families partner with a compassionate, skilled therapist who provides effective support and practical mental health resources. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where clients can gain insight, build resilience, and work toward their goals. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with you.
