My name is Brian Sager, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC and I work for Perry Githens, APRN LLC in Southbury and New Milford, CT. We provide outpatient medication management, Spravato, and TMS. I am passionate about helping my clients improve their lives in any way that I can.
I am Stanley Okeyemi, the founder of Brighter Light Behavioral Health Services. I am currently licensed as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) in Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Washington, North Carolina, Nebraska, Virginia and New York. I have been working in the mental health industry for 16 years, but licensed as a PMHNP for four years, with a vast amount of experience and affiliations with over 40 hospitals/clinics combined across the USA
Taking that first step toward mental health care can feel like a lot, and I want to make it easier. I offer telehealth appointments in Connecticut, and I bring over three years of community mental health experience to every session. Whether you are navigating anxiety, working through depression, or healing from trauma, I meet you where you are and help you build a plan that fits your actual life. My approach is warm, practical, and focused on what works. I am here to help you move forward, one step at a time.
My path to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner was inspired by personal experiences. The stigma of mental health obstructs many people's journeys to achieving happiness. As a US Army Veteran, I have seen firsthand how this affects the lives of those struggling and their families. My goal is to enhance awareness and reduce the stigma.
As a board-certified psychiatrist and mental health nurse practitioner, I believe prioritizing mental health is key to well-being, safety, and stability in life. Seeking help can be one of the hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that great step! I believe everyone has a unique story and deserves an individualized approach to care.
I am passionate about helping clients cultivate greater balance, vitality, and overall well-being in their lives. I have experience working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, disordered eating, substance use disorders, and insomnia. I earned my degree from Hunter College in New York City, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based, client-centered care.
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a broad background in sociology. In my approach to treatment, I explore how culture, gender, and identity intersect with personality and neurochemical imbalances to produce psychiatric symptoms that impede daily functioning and interpersonal activities. Together with my clients, we determine the best pharmacological interventions to provide relief of these symptoms. I offer psychiatric evaluations, medication management, assessment for post-traumatic stress disorder, Connecticut state registration for eligible clients for medical marijuana, and Suboxone treatment.
I work with adults (26 - 64 years old) to improve the quality of their lives through a collaborative process in which client and provider together devise treatment plans that combine medication and behavioral modification. I am especially interested in men's mental health, but I work with all adults regardless of their gender identity.
In a world that is increasingly busy and complex, life can be overwhelming for all of us at some point in our lives. We all need a variety of ways to decompress. For example, I like to go to a pickleball court as often as my body will allow, where I find activity, community, and friendship. It is at these times when we need to reach out for support. Don't feel you have to struggle alone. I invite you to reach out and make a connection.

Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Southbury
Finding the right psychiatrist in Southbury, CT starts with understanding what kind of care you need. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and monitor your response over time. If you're looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or medication management, a psychiatrist may be the right fit. Psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) can also prescribe and manage medication and are another option available through Headway.
Southbury is a smaller community, and the number of local psychiatrists accepting new patients can be limited. Expanding your search to include nearby areas like Woodbury, Newtown, Middlebury, and Waterbury — or considering virtual appointments — can open up more options. Reading a provider's bio before booking can help you understand their approach, specialties, and whether they're a good match for your needs.
Psychiatry sessions can be expensive without insurance. Using your in-network benefits is one of the most reliable ways to lower your out-of-pocket costs. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs upfront, and many patients pay as low as $0 per visit. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a psychiatrist who is both the right clinical fit and covered by your plan.
