I specialize in helping adults and young adults manage anxiety disorders, panic attacks, chronic stress, and burnout using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches. I also support clients experiencing depression, trauma-related symptoms, and life transitions that feel overwhelming or hard to manage alone.

Many of the people I work with are functioning well but internally overwhelmed—dealing with constant worry, racing thoughts, physical symptoms of anxiety, or a persistent sense of being “on edge.” Others notice anxiety affecting their sleep, focus, relationships, or ability to relax and enjoy life.

Hello and welcome! I’m Beth, and I’m so glad you’re here and have taken the important first step toward self-care. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. You may be feeling like you've lost motivation or that your emotions have taken over, or perhaps you're worried about a child. Whatever challenges you're facing, EVERYONE deserves to lead a meaningful life. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can confront their struggles, find empowerment, and regain a sense of security to start living their best lives.

As a highly sensitive person (HSP) with strong empathy, I understand the importance of compassion. I'm a down-to-earth person who has my own struggles, just like everyone else. I have two children: a son who recently got married and a daughter currently in college. Between my family, including my husband, we certainly know how to drive each other crazy! I love spending time outdoors in nature, as it helps me stay balanced. The tools and strategies I share with my clients are ones I’ve used in my own life, and I believe my experiences as a therapist, educator, mother, wife, daughter, and friend make me a relatable ally for those I work with.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent the first 20 years of my career as a school teacher in Philadelphia. During that time, I was privy to many difficult situations in my students' homes, including various forms of abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, the education system's main focus was on meeting academic standards, leaving little room to address the mental health challenges these children faced. I did my best to support them both academically and emotionally. Over time, I realized what my true calling was and I resigned from teaching to pursue a graduate degree in mental health counseling.

After decades in healthcare, including years in hospice and palliative care, I learned something that shapes everything about how I work: the most powerful thing I can offer is simply to be present. Not to fix, not to explain away, and not to pretend I fully understand what you are going through. But to stay with you in whatever you are carrying, without rushing, without judgment, for as long as it takes.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania. My years in hospice prepared me to hold space for people in the most difficult moments of their lives, and that experience is what I bring to therapy now. Whether you are managing a chronic illness, living with chronic pain, carrying trauma, grieving a loss, or burning out from caregiving, you do not have to make it more manageable for the people around you. You just have to show up.

One small note: I have a chronic pain condition myself, so you may see me reposition during our sessions. I mention it upfront so you can focus on yourself rather than wondering.

Find an expert who truly understands ADHD

Headway helps you stay on track with expert-guided support for ADHD — from finding the right therapist or psychiatrist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an ADHD Therapist in Philadelphia, PA

Searching for ADHD therapists in Philadelphia starts with knowing what kind of support you want. ADHD therapy may focus on executive function, cognitive behavioral therapy for ADHD, emotional regulation, communication, or building systems that fit your day-to-day life. Medication management is different and is usually provided by a psychiatrist or other qualified prescriber. Some people look for one type of care, while others work with both a therapist and a prescriber. If you are searching for ADHD therapy for yourself, a child, or a teen, review each therapist’s listed specialties to see whether they work with adult ADHD, pediatric ADHD, anxiety, depression, or related concerns.

Philadelphia has many therapists across neighborhoods like Center City, South Philly, University City, and Fishtown, which can make the search broader than it needs to be. Location may matter if you prefer in-person sessions near home, work, campus, or public transit. Virtual appointments can also expand your options if your schedule changes often or you want to meet from a private space. As you compare ADHD counseling options, look at appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new clients, and how they describe their approach. A therapist’s bio can help you understand their communication style, experience with co-occurring concerns like anxiety or depression, and whether they offer a free phone consultation before booking.

ADHD therapy in Philadelphia can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists who match your needs, accept your plan, and are accepting new clients. You can enter your insurance details, see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, review therapist profiles, and book directly when you’re ready.

If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
