Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Hi, I’m Comfort, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My diverse background helps me bring a holistic perspective to care, and patients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I am an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than eight years of nursing experience in psychiatry and internal medicine. I am committed to providing compassionate, individualized, evidence-based mental health care and helping people achieve their goals. I believe mental health is essential to overall well-being and strives to create a safe, respectful, judgment-free environment where everyone feels heard and valued. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and spending time with friends and loved ones.
I am a very open-minded therapist. I have worked with a large range of different people in different settings. I have worked with kiddos from age 4 to adults aged 70+ and have found what works best for each individual I work with. I studied my undergrad at Cleveland State University and got my masters at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. After, I worked school-base, home-based, as well as within the workers comp world so have worked with a little of everything!
Greetings, my name is Barbara Thomas. Maybe stress won’t let up, anxiety keeps you on edge, grief hasn’t had room to breathe, or you’re ready to change your relationship with alcohol or drugs. Whatever it is, I’m here to help you find your balance again. I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Cleveland State University and my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University, with a Business Administration focus. I’ve worked in home-based services, hospitals, residential programs, and virtual settings. There I’ve supported children, teens, adults, and older adults through addiction, homelessness, anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, family and relationship challenges, and major life transitions. That range has taught me that no two journeys look the same, and that everyone deserves a space where they feel respected and heard.
Know that I look at the whole system, not just the thought loop. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - Supervisor in Ohio, and I'm also trained as a yoga instructor and nutrition professional, so when we talk about anxiety, OCD patterns, or burnout, we're also talking about your sleep, your body, and what's actually sustainable for you. I work with adults and older adults, individuals and families, and I welcome LGBTQ+ clients and clients navigating racial-justice-related stress as your full self, not a case file.
I'm Kassandra, a Licensed Independent Social Worker trained at Case Western Reserve
University. My clinical foundation was built doing crisis intervention and specialized
trauma work with survivors of sexual assault, child abuse, and sex trafficking before
I became independently licensed. That experience isn't a line on a resume. It's the reason
I can sit with the hardest things clients bring in without needing them to minimize,
manage, or explain themselves first. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults
individually and with couples. I'm explicitly LGBTQIA+-affirming and have experience
with transgender and identity-related concerns. I offer telehealth across Ohio and accept
insurance through Headway.
What was your path to becoming a mental health provider?
I always had a desire to understand people and didn't realize there was a profession centered around my curiosity until college. I was also very intrigued with trying to understand my emotions growing up and because I struggled, I developed a desire to help others through their life challenges. I started providing support services to families and volunteers through a mentoring agency, which later led to interning at a psychiatric outpatient facility, to working with foster children providing therapy and to also growing my private practice here with Alma working with adults and children.
What should someone know about working with you?
I believe I am relatable and open to the sharing of myself with the understanding and expectation that you will be entrusting your vulnerabilities with me in session. I will challenge your thoughts, your patterns and your assumptions, and I give homework routinely as an extension of our time together to keep you active and engaged until we meet again.
How do you continue learning and building new skills?
I am committed to being a life-long learner. I take courses and trainings annually, listen to and learn from seasoned clinicians and try to stay afloat of new groundbreaking research related to treatments and techniques surrounding mental health.
"Success for me, is helping others create the wellness they desire."
Hello and thank you for looking at my profile. My approach to providing therapy is to Keep. It. Simple.
I focus on the mind-body connection to help you understand why things feel the way they do, how our brain and body interpret certain feelings and experiences, and then what you can do to try to manage those feelings and make situations feel more comfortable and under control.
I specialize working with adolescents, but welcome all ages and genders. My main areas of clinical focus are in mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.
Emotional exhaustion can look like functioning.
You may be the person others depend on while quietly feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. At Milton’s Place Counseling, therapy offers a supportive space to slow down, process what you are carrying, and identify practical next steps. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and major life transitions. You do not have to wait until you are in crisis to seek support.
If anxiety, depression, grief, or ongoing stress are making daily life feel harder, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work with adolescents, adults, and families who feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Many parents seek support when they notice changes in their teen’s mood, behavior, school functioning, or communication, while adults often come to therapy feeling exhausted, disconnected, or weighed down by life transitions and relationship stress.
