Life can be challenging from time to time, rather than continuing to struggle reach out and I can help you obtain the necessary skills to be confident in the decisions you make.
I am curious and validating, providing a nurturing environment to talk openly and honestly about your struggles, strengths, weaknesses, needs, likes, and dislikes. I love helping people explore their unique and particular powers as well as how these powers impact their world and their relationships. As a passionate supporter of those who have been through unjust or otherwise traumatic experiences--including those experiencing discrimination based upon race or gender identity or sexual orientation--I am particularly interested in helping people gain skills for dealing with, and making sense of, the remnants of their pasts.
Having completed Bessel Van der Kolk's Trauma Research Foundation's Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies in early 2025, I have a strong foundational understanding of the most cutting edge approaches to treating trauma. I am also comfortable using a combination of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I received an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, a psychodynamically focused program, after which I completed Bryn Mawr's certificate program in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I have also completed 1 year of Gestalt Therapy training and the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Immersion Program.
As an LCSW, my training emphasized the role of social environment--from the family to society at large--in how we construct our narratives, enabling me to help you make sense of what in your life is yours to own and what is a product of your environment.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or having trouble focusing, I’m here to help. I’m Dr. Amie Fabah, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner caring for adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and I provide simple, personalized treatment with medication when needed. My goal is to help you feel better, think clearly, and get back to yourself.
My philosophy as a social worker and therapist is simple: we are not defined by our diagnoses. Over the past eight years, I have worked across various settings with teenagers, families, and individuals facing diverse challenges, from substance abuse and relationship struggles to developmental disabilities. I am deeply passionate about meeting people where they are at, using a human-centered approach that prioritizes your needs above all else.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel difficult, but you don’t have to navigate challenging seasons alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience supporting adolescents and adults through anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship and family concerns.
As a Certified Grief Educator, I have a particular passion for helping people navigate grief and loss. I understand that grief is not linear and that everyone experiences loss differently. Together, we can create a supportive, compassionate space where you can process your emotions, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward while honoring the people and relationships you’ve lost.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I use evidence-based strategies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and DBT-informed coping skills, along with practical tools you can use in everyday life. We may also focus on emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, coping strategies, and building confidence.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, adjusting to a major life transition, working through relationship concerns, or trying to find your way through grief, therapy can provide a place to feel heard, supported, and understood. I would be honored to support you along the way.
Parenting a child with special needs—especially a neurodivergent child—can be both rewarding and challenging. I’m here to support parents and caregivers with warmth, understanding, and practical tools so you can feel more confident and supported in your role.
I currently provide individual therapy to children in a school setting and have spent years working in foster care, adoption, and residential treatment. As a former foster parent and respite provider, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the unique experiences families navigate while caring for children with special needs. I also started a support group in my community to support caregivers, inspired by both my professional experience and my own parenting journey.
In addition, I have spent years helping employees and volunteers in non-profit fields navigate self-care, compassion fatigue, and responses to burnout.
