Many high-performing adults are used to being the one others depend on. From the outside, life may look successful and put together, but internally you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or constantly questioning yourself despite your accomplishments.
I specialize in working with professionals, leaders, and high-achieving adults who are balancing demanding careers, relationships, parenting, and personal expectations while struggling with anxiety, burnout, imposter syndrome, trauma, ADHD, perfectionism, or stress that never fully seems to shut off. Many of my clients are successful professionally but find themselves struggling to feel fully present at home, connected in relationships, or able to truly slow their mind down.
I also work with adults navigating depression, major life transitions, work stress, relationship challenges, and the pressure of trying to manage everything while continuing to perform at a high level. Often, the same strengths that help people succeed professionally can also contribute to chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, people-pleasing, overthinking, difficulty relaxing, or feeling like they always need to stay in control.
Therapy with me is not about judgment or simply “talking about feelings.” It is a practical, supportive, and collaborative process focused on helping you better understand yourself, improve emotional awareness, manage stress more effectively, strengthen relationships, and feel more grounded and confident in both your personal and professional life.
I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who strongly believes mental wellness is the framework for a well-balanced a healthy lifestyle. The most challenging part is asking for help and you've jumped that hurdle. I have been in nursing for over 10 years with a background in med-surg, cardio telemetry, emergency medicine and psychiatric care. Regardless of the setting, I have witnessed many patients struggle, but most importantly, I have also witnessed patients pull-through and overcome. I've treated patients with substance abuse disorders, anxiety, depression, and a list of others.
Everyone's mental health journey is different, so I don't believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. I take the time to understand who you are—not just your symptoms—so we can build a treatment plan that works for your goals, your lifestyle, and your values. As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I care for children, adolescents, and adults through thoughtful psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Whether you're seeking answers, support, or a fresh start, I'm here to partner with you every step of the way.
Hello,
My name is Assumpta Nwagwu. I'm a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over six years of experience helping people ages 13 and up feel more like themselves again. I take the time to understand what you’re going through before we build a plan together. Whether we’re working through medication options or talking through what's been weighing on you, my goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and hopeful about the road ahead.
I specialize in treating clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders/manic-depressive illness, ADHD, ODD, OCD, and trauma.
I work with adult individuals 18+. I have over 5 years experience in varied adult issues. This includes sex offender work and work with sexual assault survivors. I have worked with people who are dealing with personality issues, issues with depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, CPTSD and PTSD, as well as grief overall. Grief comes in many shapes and forms. I work with varied issues that are too many to name. I not only have clinical experience but real life experience to back it up.
Life can feel incredibly heavy when anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, or major life changes begin affecting your ability to move forward. You may feel overwhelmed by emotions, exhausted from carrying burdens on your own, or unsure where to turn next. Sometimes the hardest part is feeling like no one truly understands what you've been through. I work with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, panic disorders, grief and loss, PTSD, trauma, stress, bipolar disorder, and anger management concerns. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling emotionally drained, discouraged, or disconnected from the peace and fulfillment they want for themselves. My goal is to provide a compassionate and supportive space where you can slow down, feel heard, make sense of your experiences, and begin moving toward healing with greater confidence and hope.
Welcome! My goal is to partner with families to help clients live happy, healthy lives. Whether you've experienced side effects from medication or haven't seen the progress you hoped for, I'm here to work with you toward a solution.
Finding the right medication is only part of the picture — truly understanding what's happening in your life matters just as much. That's why I incorporate brief, solution-focused therapy into every visit and make a point of staying in close communication with your other providers.
As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, I have extensive training and experience treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, and a range of other behavioral health challenges. I also enjoy working with young adults in their twenties who are navigating the unique transitions and challenges that come with that stage of life.
I have a special interest in women's health — particularly during the perinatal period and menopause — as well as the unique needs of healthcare workers.
After spending 12 years working in the legal field, having 3 children, and ensuring my son with special needs had the support he needed to reach his potential, which he did beautifully, I decided to follow my (other) passion. Went back to school in 2016 to earn my Masters in Social Work, which allowed me to follow my dream - helping people find their voice, their identify, their peace, their power and their ability to grow.
