My name is Kalena Castaneda (she/her) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and am a Nationally Certified Counselor. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer. I am a full believer in taking care of the mind, body, and soul.
In order for us to feel the joys of life, we must do all three. Which is why I have tried to incorporate each aspect into my own practice. Something I had never seen, and something I've always wanted to do. I look forward to meeting new humans who truly want to find new ways to connect with and understand self.
I have over 30 years of direct clinical experience. I work remotely at this time, and blend cognitive behavioral techniques with psychodynamic techniques, including dream work (if interested). I work with adults with a wide range of challenges. I cannot make your anxiety disappear; however, I can help you change your relationship to it.
I believe in empowering people through a strength-based approach to therapy. I specialize in psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, trauma and PTSD, eating disorders and substances use issues.
30+ years of clinical experience.
Master's degree from U. of Northern Colorado.
Extensive training/work in Brainspotting.
Perfect clinical protocol to quickly heal sadness, anger, anxiety, grief associated with trauma.
Results likely within 5-10 sessions.
Talking about your feelings, thoughts, and experiences with anyone can be challenging, especially with a complete stranger. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and judgement free space for you to reflect and navigate through the various seasons of your life.
What is your approach to therapy?Whether you have specific goals or simply need a listening ear, I utilize a variety of approaches to assist clients in accomplishing their goals and navigating difficult situations. I use a holistic and collaborative approach, providing encouragement, accountability, and direct feedback to assist clients with their individual needs. Some of my areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, trauma, and interpersonal communication skills.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?I hope to use my training and experience to help you overcome obstacles, identify your strengths, manage stress, and learn helpful coping skills to propel you forward. Like many things in life, therapy can be uncomfortable and scary at first, but I'd be honored to walk with you and encourage you along this journey.
Welcome! I'm Austin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I am fully licensed as of July 2026 but prior to this, I have worked in both outpatient and correctional settings as a provisionally licensed counselor and intern. I work with clients 18+ with presenting issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and more to improve areas such as emotion regulation and distress tolerance. I also enjoy working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community and am a member of the community myself!
I enjoy taking a person centered, strength based approach to therapy. I like to spend time getting to know my clients, their view of the world, and the experiences that have shaped them. On the surface, substance use has been my speciality, but I find that substance use is typically secondary to underlying mental health or trauma related concerns. Because of that, I have experience in a wide range of concerns and practice with varying approaches suited to meet the individual client's needs.
My approach combines over 20 years of experience working in healthcare with multiple degrees in nursing and psychology/psychiatry. I have a strong background in addiction medicine, as well as general mental health care.
