I am a board-certified Psychiatrist (medical doctor) providing virtual care throughout NY and PA. I taper medications. This means most of my patients want to safely reduce or ultimately stop taking psychiatric medications, and I guide them through that process safely and at their own pace. I include therapy in my 30-min follow up sessions, though do not offer weekly 1-hour therapy sessions. Many of my patients also work with a therapist.

Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Psychiatrist in Ridgewood
Finding psychiatrists in Ridgewood starts with knowing what type of mental health care you want to access. Psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, and manage medication over time. Therapists provide talk therapy and may work with you on concerns like anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, or life changes. Some people start with a psychiatrist, some start with a therapist, and some work with both. Look for a clinician whose listed specialties, training, and care style match what you want support with.
Ridgewood has local options for psychiatric care, and nearby areas like Maspeth, Middle Village, and Forest Hills may add more choices. Virtual appointments can also expand your search, especially if local availability is limited or your schedule works better with care from home. Psychiatric medication management visits are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, while some psychiatrists also offer therapy. As you compare profiles, check appointment availability, whether the clinician offers a free phone consultation, and what their bio says about communication style and areas of focus.
Psychiatric care in Ridgewood can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before you book. Headway helps you find psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients with your plan, see estimated out-of-pocket costs upfront, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
