Hi, I'm Dionne, a psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, anger management, and cultural and ethnic issues. I work primarily with adults and seniors, and I believe that the foundation of good care starts with truly being heard. From our very first appointment, my goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, respected, and understood - no matter what you're walking in with.
Hello,
I am Dr. Tameka White, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of experience caring for adults with complex medical and mental health conditions.
Many of my clients have spent years putting everyone else first before finally seeking help for themselves. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, emotional inheritance, and or caregiver role strain caring for individuals affected by HIV, I strive to provide a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged.
My background includes critical care and HIV management, allowing me to understand the close relationship between physical health and emotional well-being.
I have a special interest in caring for men's health, professionals, caregivers, and adults from diverse communities, including Black, Caribbean, Asian, and other diaspora communities.
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING, thank you.
I am a board-certified Psychiatrist (medical doctor) providing virtual care throughout NY and PA. I taper medications. This means most of my patients want to safely reduce or ultimately stop taking psychiatric medications, and I guide them through that process safely and at their own pace. I include therapy in my 30-min follow up sessions, though do not offer weekly 1-hour therapy sessions. Many of my patients also work with a therapist.
My passion is to help others achieve wellness. I am a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience. I currently work both inpatient and outpatient facilities within New York City. I specialize in the diagnoses and treatment of adults with a range of mental health issues.
I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, individual psychotherapy and medication management for adults. My goal is to explore each of my patient's situations and issues judiciously before arriving at appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.
My patients often say that I am approachable, personable, and respond quickly to emails/phone calls. I am accepting new patients.

Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Psychiatrist in Amityville
Finding psychiatrists in Amityville starts with understanding the type of care they provide. Psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, while therapists provide talk therapy. Some people start with a prescriber for concerns like anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or OCD. Others work with a therapist, or with both a therapist and a prescriber. Review each psychiatrist’s listed specialties, training, and approach to see whether their experience matches what you want support with.
In a smaller Long Island community like Amityville, local psychiatry appointments may be more limited than in larger nearby areas. Virtual appointments can expand your options while still letting you search for care that fits your schedule. Medication management appointments are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, though some psychiatrists also offer therapy. As you compare options, look at appointment availability, whether the psychiatrist is accepting new patients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. A psychiatrist’s bio can also help you understand their communication style and what to expect during visits.
Psychiatric care in Amityville can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and make ongoing care easier to plan for. Headway helps you search for psychiatrists who accept your plan, verify your insurance, and see an estimated cost before you book. Every psychiatrist listed is accepting new patients, so you can review bios, compare fit, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
