Following the completion of my grant I attended New York University (NYU). From there I completed a residency at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Following this I entered and completed my doctorate at USD University of San Diego, California with a focus on digital telehealth treatment for psychiatric care. Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Psychiatrist in Yucca Valley
Finding psychiatrists in Yucca Valley starts with knowing whether you’re looking for medication support, therapy, or both. Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, while therapists provide talk therapy. People often look for psychiatric care for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and OCD. As you compare options, look for a psychiatrist whose listed specialties, background, and approach match the type of support you want.
In a smaller high desert community, local psychiatric options may be more limited than in larger California cities. Virtual appointments can expand your search beyond nearby offices while still giving you access to licensed psychiatrists in California. Psychiatric appointments for medication management are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, though some psychiatrists also offer therapy. Review each psychiatrist’s bio for details on availability, session format, areas of focus, and whether a free phone consultation is offered.
Psychiatric care in Yucca Valley can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before you book. Headway helps you search for psychiatrists who match your preferences, verifies insurance details, and shows estimated out-of-pocket costs upfront. You can browse profiles, compare virtual and in-person options, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
