I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a background in emergency nursing, where I developed strong skills in crisis support, trauma-informed care, and compassionate communication. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville and my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2025. My training includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, providing care across the lifespan. I have a special interest in working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and trauma-related concerns. I’m Monika Delyser, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing thoughtful, culturally sensitive care for adults throughout Arizona and California. I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, mood disorders, sleep difficulties, and attention or focus challenges.
I welcome adults from all backgrounds and walks of life. Many of my clients may appear “fine” on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, unfocused, or stuck. Together, we will create a personalized treatment plan that supports your emotional well-being, daily functioning, and long-term goals.
I want you to feel like an active partner in your care from day one. My work centers on anxiety, depression, and addiction, and I bring a warm, curious approach to your day to day life before we talk about a plan. Good care happens when we build it together, so you always have a voice in your treatment. Whether something feels newly off or you have managed a diagnosis for years, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you feel more like yourself. I explain the reasoning behind recommendations so it never feels like guesswork, and I want our work to feel collaborative and paced to what helps you.
Down to earth and very open minded. I believe in complete transparency and accountability.

Find the right psychiatrist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Surprise
Finding psychiatrists in Surprise starts with knowing which type of mental health care fits your needs. Psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, and manage medication as part of care. Therapists provide talk therapy and support, and some people work with both a therapist and a prescriber. If you are looking for care related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or OCD, review each psychiatrist’s listed specialties and bio to see whether their training matches what you want support with.
In a smaller city like Surprise, local psychiatry options may be more limited than in larger metro areas, so virtual appointments can expand the number of psychiatrists available to you. Medication management appointments are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, while some psychiatrists also offer therapy. As you compare options, look at appointment availability, whether the psychiatrist is accepting new patients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading bios can help you understand communication style, areas of focus, and what to expect before booking.
Psychiatric care in Surprise can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Headway helps you find psychiatrists who match your preferences, are accepting new patients, and take your plan, so you can review profiles, compare availability, and book directly when you’re ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
