Jacki Veler, MSN, PMHNP, FNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 16 years of nursing experience. She earned her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Spring Arbor University in 2021 and her PMHNP Graduate Certificate from the University of Toledo in 2022. At NewHeart Mental Health and Wellness in Oak Harbor, Ohio, she delivers in person and remote outpatient psychiatry and addiction treatment for adults and children across the entire lifespan. She also provides inpatient psychiatric care at a behavioral health hospital.

I view therapy through a person-centered humanistic lens. Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, careers, and their lives. My path to psychiatry began with a simple observation: mental health needs are everywhere, yet not enough people have access to care. After five years as a family nurse practitioner, I made the move to psychiatric care because I wanted to be part of the solution. I bring a holistic perspective to every session, drawing on years of primary care experience to understand how physical and mental health are connected in each person. I am board certified and see patients virtually in Ohio. If you are navigating anxiety, depression, or PTSD, I am here to work alongside you toward real, lasting change.

Over nine years ago my life changed. I lost a son to suicide due to unaddressed mental health needs. A system that was overwhelmed failed him. I returned to school to help close that gap and want to work with others to start their journey towards mental wellness. As someone who has experienced depression and anxiety, I understand the challenges faced.
