After five years as a family nurse practitioner, I made the move to psychiatric care because I wanted to be part of the solution. I bring a holistic perspective to every session, drawing on years of primary care experience to understand how physical and mental health are connected in each person. Jacki Veler, MSN, PMHNP, FNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 16 years of nursing experience. She earned her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Spring Arbor University in 2021 and her PMHNP Graduate Certificate from the University of Toledo in 2022. At NewHeart Mental Health and Wellness in Oak Harbor, Ohio, she delivers in person and remote outpatient psychiatry and addiction treatment for adults and children across the entire lifespan. She also provides inpatient psychiatric care at a behavioral health hospital.

I graduated from Northwestern University and have worked with individuals of all backgrounds and ages. I live in Ohio and am licensed in Ohio, Arizona and Virginia.

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, and a master’s in clinical social work. I specialize in treating OCD and other anxiety disorders with Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. My approach is both professional and personal. After being accepted to Berklee College of Music, my own experience with mental health got in the way.
