I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years experience working in a variety of nonprofit settings and diverse populations. I have worked with mental health, substance abuse and chronically ill populations and understand the importance of having someone who can listen!
My path to being a therapist involved listening to feedback I've received most of my life. For many years I experienced others coming to me in crisis, whether I knew them well or not. I often wondered why others felt comfortable sharing with me and why they were confident in coming to me for assistance. What makes me suited to be a therapist is a natural talent and motivation to assist others in transformation. Providing therapy is my second career; previously, I worked as a hospital administrator for many years. I went into the profession of health administration for compensation and prestige. Security was my motivation at the time. After several years of not feeling fulfilled, I decided to pursue what was missing and lead with my heart

I have my BA in sociology from Haverford College and my Masters in Social work from NYU. I have my LCSW and have a background in doing home visits with families in Brooklyn struggling with mental health and substance use. I have four years post graduate training in Gestalt Therapy at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy and I have also studied Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy at the Center for Somatic Studies. I am a trained yoga teacher and have been practicing meditation for 10+ years.
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over five years of clinical experience, supporting individuals through growth, healing, and life transitions. I was born in the U.S. and raised in Ecuador, where I lived for 15 years before my family returned to the U.S. due to financial hardship. Navigating that transition deeply shaped my understanding of resilience, adaptability, and the power of support values that guide my work today.
It's difficult making the first phone call, booking an appointment and admitting you need help. Whether it's depression, anxiety, a mood disorder or trauma, it's frightening to admit that everything isn't how you want it to be and you don't have all the answers. If you're experiencing sadness, anxiety, mood swings, intrusive thoughts or images, flash backs, numbness or insomnia, there is hope and there is help. I'm going to teach you skills to manage you symptoms, emotions and relationships more effectively.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and mutual respect. I offer therapy in both English and Spanish. I work with clients across the lifespan and have experience supporting people navigating obsessive and personality disorders, interpersonal relationships, self-care, socialization, and other challenges that can leave you feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself. As a New York State–licensed mental health counselor, I bring an integrative perspective to therapy and strive to understand each client as a whole person rather than simply focusing on a diagnosis or presenting concern. I also have a background in music, which continues to be an important part of my life and informs my belief in finding balance, meaning, and your own unique rhythm.

I'm Brooke Ayoub, and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
