I specialize in helping clients navigate life’s most personal challenges—including relationship and intimacy concerns, life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, and mental health struggles. I also provide substance abuse treatment, DOT/SAP evaluations, and recovery support using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, the Duluth Model, and the Matrix Model.
I have a special commitment to serving Black communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people living with HIV, re-entry populations, sex workers, and youth facing challenges. Kayla, a licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in community mental health, recognized the profound disparities in access to mental health care within BIPOC communities. Inspired by a vision of creating a space where healing is both inclusive and affordable, she founded Helen’s Project with the belief that everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, regardless of their background or financial situation.Helen’s Project operates on the principle that culturally competent and empathetic mental health care is essential for holistic well-being. The organization collaborates with a diverse team of mental health professionals who not only possess clinical expertise but also understand the unique cultural nuances and challenges faced by the BIPOC community.
I am open minded with a focus on empowerment and establishing self-awareness for each client to identify their ability to fix and solve their own problems with motivation, guidance, and hard work.
Clients often describe me as compassionate, validating, and down-to-earth. I specialize in working with individuals navigating life transitions, identity exploration, trauma, and mood disorders. I create a therapeutic space where clients can show up as their full selves—without judgment.
Therapy with me isn't about me telling you what to do or handing you a workbook and calling it healing. What I've learned in doing this work since 2016 — in community mental health centers, residential programs, child welfare — is that people don't need more advice. They need someone who will actually sit with them in the hard stuff and help them figure out their own way through.
I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, codependency, relationship struggles, and life transitions — including the ones nobody warned you about. I'm based in Mississippi and see all my clients via telehealth through Headway's platform, which means you get the same quality care from your living room that you'd get in any office.
