I work with teens and adults who are struggling with feelings of sadness, worry, dread, helplessness or unease. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or simply realizing that something in your life needs to change. Together we can make sense of the bigger picture of your life and the experiences, relationships, and environments that have shaped you.
I’m a curious therapist, and I want to understand you as a whole person. Together, we’ll identify patterns, figure out what might help you feel better, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. My goal is to help you create changes that feel meaningful and lasting.
Welcome! I’m Kristin Petersen, MSW, LICSW, and I’ve been a psychotherapist for more than 13 years. I primarily work with women and individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the many pressures that can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself.
My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. I’ve supported clients through both everyday challenges and more complex concerns, including trauma, co-occurring conditions, behavioral concerns, and significant life changes. I believe your experiences, relationships, culture, and personal history all matter when understanding what you are going through.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and honest. I won’t simply tell you what you “should” do. Instead, we’ll work together to understand what’s happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies that fit your life. I draw from cognitive and person-centered approaches and incorporate solution-focused strategies to help you build insight while also making meaningful changes.
Therapy is a place where you can be honest without fear of judgment. Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or returning because something in your life no longer feels manageable, my goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported while developing the tools and confidence to move forward.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. We can start exactly where you are.

I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management. My appointments are intended for individuals seeking assessment of mental health symptoms and consideration or management of psychiatric medications. I offer brief supportive counseling during these visits, but I do not provide ongoing, therapy-only counseling sessions. If you are looking for regular talk therapy without medication management, please schedule with a therapist.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing compassionate, evidence-based care to adolescents and adults. I want my patients to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their treatment.
I am also a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse–Advanced Practice (CARN-AP) and Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP). My experience spans outpatient, correctional, crisis, and other high-acuity settings, including care for individuals with complex psychiatric conditions, substance use concerns, and trauma.
I evaluate and treat concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, mood instability, and insomnia. I also work with individuals who have co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns or have had limited success with previous psychiatric medications.
My approach is individualized, practical, and collaborative. Together, we consider your symptoms, medical history, previous treatment experiences, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. When medication is appropriate, we discuss benefits, risks, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions. Scheduling an evaluation does not mean you must take medication.
My goal is to provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can speak openly. When ongoing psychotherapy would benefit you, I encourage working with a therapist alongside your psychiatric care.
