- With 30 years of experience in behavioral health, I am an LICSW licensed in MA, CT, and RI. I hold a Master's Degree from Columbia University. My expertise includes providing evidence-based treatment and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy to adults and couples.
Hi, my name is Sean and I would like to welcome you to therapy. If you are feeling stressed, stuck, and/or overwhelmed with life circumstances, you have come to the right place. I have been passionate about providing quality therapy for many years. Therapy can lead to insight and growth and help build a quality of life that you truly deserve.
I currently utilize the following models in therapy:
Motivational Interviewing is a communication style designed to support active listening and client autonomy. You will feel heard and supported to focus on specific goals for your therapy experience. Change can be challenging. You may even enjoy some of the things you seek to change. This is often a completely normal experience. We will explore your goals in a non-judgmental and validating manner.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured goal-oriented model that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Having racing thoughts and feeling angry, sad, and/or worried are often normal experiences for many of us. When experiences impact your functioning, this may result in distress and/or conflict. We will collaborate to identify patterns that may be unhelpful and develop coping skills that may help you resolve your concerns.
Solution Focused Therapy is a future orientated model. We will collaborate to determine solutions that could help you move forward towards your preferred future. This includes exploring your strengths and resources that can be utilized as key supports during your therapy journey.
Trauma Informed Care is a framework that ensures therapy offers you a safe space where psychological and emotional safety is paramount. You will be empowered to have a voice and choice during the therapy process. Moreover, you will feel a sense of trustworthiness and transparency during your therapy journey.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Board Certified Music Therapist (MTBC). I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Therapies from Lesley University.
I present as a warm accepting therapist, with no judgement about your delema. My belief is that there is hope for everyone. By interweaving my 20 years of social work experience with a positive, hopeful outlook we accomplish your goals together. Living in a suburb with many trees and flowers, I may use visualization of nature as a calming part of therapy. I love most animals and have a sweet dog. I might share relevant stories from my past or do a fun exercise to illustrate a point.
My emphasis is on you being the expert about yourself.
I will be the copilot pointing out your strengths and achievements. We will work together for your preferred future.
