Hi, I’m E.C. Kissner Art Therapist | Creative Consultant + Career Coach for Arts + Innovation Entrepreneurs — If you’re someone who feels accomplished on the outside but stretched thin on the inside, you’re in the right place. Many of the people I work with are navigating burnout, transitions, stress, uncertainty about next steps, or a sense that life’s moving faster (or slower) than they can keep up with. You might want clarity, balance, and a way to turn insight into real-world change .... I specialize in creating a judgmental space that allows for both professional development & general life as well as mental health questions to unfold. — respectful of your identity, personal cultural context and lived experiences, while supporting you in moving from contemplating goals to moving them forward. Life imitates art so the trajectory to present will always be fully customized & right sized for your needs, working style and personal preferences.
I don't rush to judge others, client's can say anything uncomfortable or mushy without being shut down.
Hi! My name is Nura Shadid, (Noo-rah, she/her). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults who need support in managing anxiety, depression as well as overcoming relationship difficulties, identity and self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions. I also have a focus in Arab-American, Muslim and first generation mental health. I am a first generation Palestinian-Muslim, and that experience has shaped my view and understanding of the systems and structures that oppress the most marginalized of us. As an intersectional feminist, I am working towards unlearning the teachings of the patriarchy and white supremacy, and assisting people in identifying how these impact our daily lives.
I recieved my Bachelors of Social Work in 2013 from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and went on to complete my Master of Social Work at Loyola in 2014. I have since worked in different capacities in mental health, ranging from residential programming, crisis intervention and eventually leading me to settle in outpatient.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Illinois
Searching for therapists in Illinois starts with finding the right clinical fit for your needs. Illinois has a wide range of therapists across urban and rural areas, so available specialties may vary by location. You might look for support with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, trauma, or major life changes. As you compare Illinois therapists, review each therapist’s listed specialties, therapy approach, and experience with concerns like yours. Some therapists may use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
Practical fit matters, too. If you live in Chicago, Springfield, Peoria, or another part of Illinois, consider whether in-person or virtual sessions work better for your schedule and location. A therapist with evening virtual appointments may be a better match if travel time is hard to plan, while an office near home or work may matter more if you prefer in-person care. You can also narrow your search by appointment availability, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, whether they offer a free phone consultation, and how they describe their communication style. Reading therapist bios before booking can help you understand what sessions may be like.
The cost of Illinois therapy can vary, and using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you search for licensed therapists who are accepting new patients, verify your insurance, and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Nationally, Headway works with over 100 insurance plans, and your exact coverage depends on your plan and location. You can browse therapists, review bios, compare availability, and book directly when you’re ready.
