Feeling stuck can be so frustrating. Where do we go when our usual coping skills stop working?
Having been on both sides of this question, I deeply understand the struggle on both a personal and professional level. I believe that's where therapy can really help to remove some road-blocks. It's not a cure-all, but it can certainly help build momentum.
By using more imaginative approaches to therapy in addition to cognitive approaches, I believe that roadblocks can be moved and deeper, holistic healing is possible.
I look forward to hearing and helping you move forward in your story.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's degree in Social Work and extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. My background includes working in school settings and with youth in foster care and their families.
I help adults navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, and the effects of trauma so they can feel more balanced, confident, and in control of their lives. If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like the patterns in your life are no longer working, therapy can help you gain clarity, recognize your strengths, and create meaningful change. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
I believe people deserve to feel understood before they’re asked to change. My approach to therapy is direct and collaborative. I work primarily with men and couples who feel stuck in patterns of conflict, disconnection, defensiveness, or shutting down, and want to better understand themselves and the people they care about.
Accepting new clients for telehealth therapy anywhere in Illinois. My goal is to meet people where they are and deliver care that helps promote change in their lives. Each person has a unique story and a desire to change their quality of life. Through this journey, I will help you determine these goals and develop a plan to reach them.
I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Trauma Informed Care.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). My decision to become a counselor comes from a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of others. I have always been naturally curious and interested in understanding people, the experiences that shape us, the patterns we develop, and the ways we navigate both adversity and growth.
Mental health and psychology have also been part of my world for as long as I can remember. As the daughter of a mental health counselor, I grew up with an appreciation for the importance of mental health, human behavior, and the therapeutic process. Over time, that early exposure contributed to my own passion for helping others.
Like many people, I have experienced my own share of life’s challenges and difficult seasons. Those experiences have shaped my understanding of resilience and deepened my compassion for the complexities of being human. They have also taught me that healing is not always linear and that sometimes we need support to move through the experiences that leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves.
It is a privilege to support people through vulnerable and meaningful moments in their lives. I see my clients as a whole person with a unique history, strengths, challenges, and capacity for growth. My hope is that you leave therapy not only feeling understood and supported, but also more knowledgeable about yourself, equipped with practical tools, and empowered to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.
Hi, my name is Dr. Mark Aghakhan and I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in a variety of therapeutic, educative, consultative, and evaluative services. I utilize interventions that best match my client’s style and approach toward everyday challenges.
I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years bringing broad experience and perspective to my sessions. I believe that joining with a client is paramount to establishing trust. Trusting that your provider cares for you, has your best interest at heart and provides you with reasonable and doable solutions is key to growth. If we don’t connect, no harm/no foul. We agree to move on and I will assist with that process, if necessary.
Choosing the right therapist is an important step, and I'd like to share a little about the clients I serve to help you decide whether we'd be a good fit. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are navigating challenges in their relationships. Whether it's with a partner, family member, friend, or even your relationship with yourself, our connections often have a significant impact on how we think, feel, and move through the world. Many of the struggles people bring to therapy are rooted in feeling disconnected, hurt, or stuck in repeating patterns, and I find it meaningful to help clients create healthier relationships. My own journey has required grit, resilience, and the willingness to rise again and again, and those experiences shape the way I sit with others in their pain, their uncertainty, and their becoming.
