I believe people deserve to feel understood before they’re asked to change. My approach to therapy is direct and collaborative. I believe in empowering people to take charge of their own present and future lives. Generally, when you seek therapy, you are overwhelmed and ready to change. I believe you have it within yourself to make sense of your life, focus on creating the life you desire, and feel in control. I use strength and solution-based, client -centered psychotherapy. I am nonjudgmental, compassionate, and have a sense of humor. Regardless of the weight of therapy, we will also laugh!

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Evanston
Searching for therapists in Evanston starts with knowing what kind of support you want. People look for therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and stress. As you compare Evanston therapists, look for someone whose listed specialties, training, and approach match your needs. A therapist’s profile can help you understand whether they use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, or other methods that fit what you want to work on.
Evanston has a smaller local therapist market than nearby Chicago, so virtual therapy can help expand your options while keeping care accessible from home. You may prefer an office near downtown Evanston, Northwestern, or transit, or you may want virtual appointments that fit your schedule. Beyond specialty, compare appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading bios before booking can also show how a therapist describes their style, session structure, and experience with concerns like yours.
Therapy in Evanston can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists in Evanston who take insurance, view estimated costs after entering your plan details, and book directly when you’re ready. You can browse therapist profiles, compare fit, and choose someone who matches your needs, schedule, and coverage.
